Card out as White House chief of staff, administration official says

The Associated Press
Published March 28, 2006, 7:06 AM CST

WASHINGTON -- White House chief of staff Andy Card has resigned and will be replaced by budget director Josh Bolten, an administration official said Tuesday.

President Bush was expected to announce the shake up during a meeting with reporters with reporters later Tuesday morning in the Oval Office of the White House.

The move comes amid a sharp decline in Bush's approval ratings and calls from Republicans for the president to bring in new aides with fresh ideas and new energy.

Card came to Bush recently and suggested that he should step down from the job that he has held from the first day of Bush's presidency, said the administration official.

Bush decided during a weekend stay at Camp David, Md., to accept Card's resignation and to name Bolten as his replacement, said the source who spoke on condition of anonymity because he did not want to pre-empt the president.

Bolten is widely experienced in Washington, both on Capitol Hill as well as at the White House, where he was deputy chief of staff before becoming director of the Office of Management and Budget.

Andy Card was almost approaching a record for a chief-of-staff. I guess that was his death knell......

6. I Hope John Snowe Didn't Buy...
Gotta love this regime that says it won't cave into "political pressures" and looks like they just shuffled the deck chairs on the Titanic. Were we expecting anything different?

Now someone's gotta take the fall for boooosh's sagging popularity and the impression of total ineptness. Karl sure won't bite the bullet...nor will Unka Dick or von Rumsfeldt or Condiliar or any of the other crooks in that regime....plus they all hold a lot of deep, dirty secrets that the booosh cabal wants on their side, not against them. The weakest link has always been Card...the dumping boy. He's always been the ultimate fall guy (Hadley also is now given the role of GOOP punching bag) when things go bad...and like the good soldier, he just sucked it up and went back to work.

Well, looks like another diversion tactic to cool off all the Immigration talk cause it appears booosh is in a no-win situation. It's time to create a sideshow...and why not use Card and a card.

Methinks they're gonna try the Donald Regan game...kick him over to Treasury (kick Snowe over to K Street) and try to make this appear as some major shake-up to keep their base from further fracturing.

It also makes me wonder if Karl's worked a deal with Fitz that will keep him inside the White House in some capacity...and this is just an internal shuffling by Rove to give him even deeper cover.

Stay tuned...

11. Diversion indeed; between the immigration issues and the war,
any distraction would be welcome, I'm sure!

15. They're Tap Dancing As Fast As They Can
Look at my other posts this morning...there's a lot of fires this regime is attempting to control or contain. They're desperate to control the news cycle like they had in the past and are doing anything and everything to get that attention. Even the immigration game was used as a diversion...to take pressure off the Iraq invasion and the crappy economy. Now that the issue's gotten too hot, it's time to create another diversion and hope the short-term sheeple that populate ditto-head land will forget this as quickly as they forgot Dubai.

This just makes me think some kind of Iran folly is gonna happen this fall...not for any other reason than to create a massive distraction as a vain effort to scare a midterm election victory.

No Relation No. 14: The Bush White House Edition
By Chris Suellentrop
Posted Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at 6:14 PM ET

How do you tell the difference between Bush administration officials Josh Bolten and John Bolton? Both worked in the Reagan administration, both worked for Bush's dad, and both worked on Bush's legal team during the Florida recount before landing jobs with the administration. And their names sound alike. But the similarities end there:

Josh Bolten is the White House's deputy chief of staff for policy. That makes him the president's chief domestic policy adviser, and since Sept. 11 he has headed the White House's new "domestic consequences group" that has developed post-attack legislation such as the airline bailout and the stimulus package. The New Republic's Ryan Lizza calls him "increasingly powerful" and "the anonymous fourth man in the inner circle of Bush's staff" (after Andy Card, Karl Rove, and Karen Hughes). U.S. News says he has emerged after the terrorist attacks as Bush's "chief economic architect," and the Washington Post says Bolten "has a quiet hand in all domestic policy and international economic policy."

During the 2000 campaign, Bolten was Bush's policy director, and during the Florida recount he was a top lieutenant to James Baker. He worked as a lawyer in the Reagan administration's State Department, and he served as a staff attorney for the Senate Finance Committee from 1985 to 1989. In the first Bush administration, he worked as general counsel for the U.S. trade representative and as the White House's deputy assistant for legislative affairs.

Bolten is publicity-shy—the rare profile of him always mentions that he didn't want the story written—but he has received some attention for his relationship with Bo Derek. The Austin American-Statesman says the two are just friends but that the relationship has included "several briefings" and a motorcycle ride. (Bolten owns a Harley.)

12. Bolton's appointment comes in the DARK of the MOON
Edited on Tue Mar-28-06 08:19 AM by SpiralHawk
VERY INTERESTING

The old Skull & Boner Kult in the White House has appointed the new chief of staff - Josh Bolten -- while we are in the Dark of the Moon -- just hours before the loaded New Moon Eclipse at 5:16 AM EST on Wednesday, March 29 at 8 degrees of Aries.

Meanwhile -- as every Republican Occultist will know -- the planet Pluto will simultaneously be making its station Retrograde at 26 Sagittarius -- the Galactic Heart Center, and key portal to the Mayan Teachings about Winter Solstice in the year 2012 (cue the Millennial Music).

Very interesting.

17. Things that are intentionally done in the Dark of the Moon
are intended to be occult - hidden.

On that classical premise, I feel there is a lot going on here that is OCCULTED -- behind the closed doors, minds, and souls of BushCo & Cabal O' Cronies. I suspect that whatever is going on behind the scenes, it has little to do with the benefit and welfare of the United States of America, and everyting to do with the benefit and welfare of the "Elite" as they like to think of themselves.

But this, too, shall pass. Comes the new sun.
