TIRED OF THE "RADICAL LEFT" MONIKER
Edited on Mon Mar-27-06 10:59 PM by YouthInAsia
I read this post on www.comearmageddon.blogspot.com and I once again couldn't agree more with the writer. How tired am I of being labeled a "radical leftist." Nothing I do nor anything I believe in is "radical" but this is the catch phrase the right has picked up on and now throw it around like it actually fits all who disagree with THEM. The post is long but is a good read.

3. I think its a girl who write it
which makes it even more kick ass. See the post regarding the whole south dakota rape/incest/abortion ban. The writer pretty much says she's a girl (unless men have ovaries too!)

6. One thing this phrase "radical left" always makes me wonder...
In the eyes of people like Limbaugh, who are the "moderate liberals"? They never use such a phrase. Every leftist or liberal is "radical" or "extremist" or "fringe".

They probably think the moderate left is found, ideologically, somewhere around Rudy Giuliani. On second thought, given that he supports reproductive rights and gay marriage, maybe he's also a radical leftist.

7. Yes, it's like any ideas that don't conform to their harsh, captialistic
view of the world is "left."

Compassion, concern for human suffering, especially that caused by other humans, fairness - all those ideas simply brushed aside as "radical".

9. As a radical leftist, this irritates me too
It's coldly comforting to know that if these fuckers ever met someone like me, they'd shit themselves.

I remember this one guy a couple years back damn near had a STROKE when he found out the "liberal" he was yelling at was actually an anarchist.

10. But I don't even know if what I believe IS radically left.
I'm not saying I'm agains radically left beliefs or anything, but it seems like putting "radically" next to "left" is really away of discrediting all left of center ideas.

11. How does that discredit anything?
Whether your beliefs are radical are not is for you alone to determine. I wouldn't pay any mind to the views of rightwing fascists who can't even tell the difference between a Democrat and an anarchist, because uninformed opinions don't count.
