The good news from Iraq I am waiting to hear
The only good news from Iraq I want to hear is "The troops can all come home and we accomplished something worth what the war cost America."

Anyone think we're going to hear that this year? Or in five years?

1. The first part of your "wish" will come true...

The troops WILL come home (someday) and you may live to hear it (depending on how old you are), but you will NEVER hear that something worth the cost of the war was accomplished unless you hear it from the lips of a LIAR. Sorry to rain on your parade, but it ain't gonna happen.

2. We are building 14 permanent bases (to replace the M.E. presence we lost
when S.A. kicked us out), so we are never leaving. Any talk to the contrary is completely at odds with the objective facts of policy and $$$.

3. What could possibly be worth all the lives that were lost?
I know what you're saying, and I agree with you. But I just can't think of anything that would make it up to all the grieving families. What are the numbers now? Nothing is worth all that loss. Too many people are missing someone they love because of this.

4. Well, I don't know what.
But there had better be something worth all the lives lost or don't tell me about "good news."
