No wonder enlistment of blacks is down. Why fight for this?
www.washingtonpost.com

I live in this country and I am ashamed of its police department that allows this to go on. I am a heavy contributor to the Fraternal Order of Police but i will not give another dime to them until this shit is eliminated and the guilty punished and removed!

<snip> From Mongtomery County (Maryland) Police message board.

"August 2004: "In their country they would get shot for talking back to the police. By the way the international sign for 'get the on the ground' is a gun pointed at you by a uniform police officer."

On illegal immigrants in the county

February 2006: "Every time some piece of Salvadoran gangbanger gets stabbed or shot and taken to Shady Grove or Holy Cross . . . guess who pays. If you come here illegally, then you deserve no healthcare, no protection by the police, no response by the police."

On a black female officer

June 2004: "Bottom line is thank the 'fool(s)' in that want to diversify this department for political reasons. Now we have the 'GHETTO' officer. When you lower your standards this is what you get."

Response to an officer looking for an affordable car

February 2006: "Go ask I'm pretty sure he has plenty of beaner cars that he has impounded!!!!!"

Response to a post in defense of an officer whose performance was criticized

February 2006: "Just like the mopes on the street and the lawyers in court, you are trying to pass HER responsibility onto someone else."

On whether there's racism in the department

March 2005: "No RACISTS??, then explain the NEO NAZI look that some officers have. Bald heads, black , and non-issued black flight jackets w/patches. Now that just conveys racism. Im white and I felt unsafe around them."

1. Mongtomery County (Maryland) is the "good for minorities area" compared
to Fairfax and Arlington Virginia across the river. The DC area has a way to go as far as police attitude.

2. The only difference between a cop and a criminal
Edited on Thu Mar-23-06 08:19 AM by Gman
is a badge. They both are of the same mentality. Cops are just a micron-thin hair's width on the side of the law because of their badge. Yeah, I can think of one exception... and he quit the force to become a Catholic priest. There may be another somewhere. I came of age in the late 60's and 70's and have found this has not changed over the years.

My wife thought highly of a fellow volunteer at our daughter's school. I told her under no circumstances should she trust him because he was a cop. Some things happened later at the school. Who was the first one to turn on everyone else? Of course, the cop. I told my wife, "I told you so." It's so predictable.

Another story, after my wife and I got married, she was outside one weekday morning doing a little yardwork close to the street. She told me later about how nice this cop was that stopped by to just chat and talk about if everything was ok in the neighborhood and other (probably meaningless) topics. My response was, "That SOB was hittin' on you, the SOB!" She was shocked. Found out a few months later the guy had a kid going to school at our daughter's school. She pointed him out to me. I knew the guy and told her of his reputation of being the biggest whore-dog in three counties (another cop trait).

And, for every ex-cop, there is one helluva story on why he's an ex-cop.

3. Yup
Every single cop that carries a badge is a racist, dirty, no good asshole. :eyes:

I'm not saying that there are no bad cops, but I never see anyone post the many good things police officers across the country do every single day.

4. That is true - vast majority of cops are good guys - but comment on DC
is also true - the area has more than its share of racist cops.

6. Shit rolls downhill and the reactionary, terrified sheeple have been
installing the worst of a bad lot in leadership positions in police departments all across the country for decades. Cops used to be civil servants, now they are enforcers. The genuinely honest, concerned officers have to stay under cover, lest they face the wrath of their 'brothers'.
It is sad.

7. Cops were always cops
Some good, some bad.

I'm not trying ot be a dick here, but just reading the history of how the cops were during the prohibition years and so on will show how corrupt a lot of them were. The "law" in the 1800's were full of shitheads and even in the 70s. Ever see Serpico?..lol.

Just sayin'.. It's nothing new.

9. Agreed, corruption is probably less prevalent today.

I think what has changed is there are many more storm trooper types today. The police used to be, basically, on the peoples side. There have always been the dicks that got on the force and they toiled in obscurity, generally shunned by the other, more sympathetic, officers. In most places it seems to have shifted, just look at what Daryl Gates did to the LAPD, it was always one of the most corrupt departments in the country, but they weren't really concerned with ruining the lives of the average citizen, they'd stop whatever was going on, take their cut, and move on to the next call. Gates turned them into municipal storm troopers pretty well universally hated outside of Beverly Hills, Bell-Aire, etc.
Escalation always leads to more escalation, criminals are criminal because that is their only option (not many opportunities to make $10,000 a week in south-central, or east LA). They're not going to stop just because some politiwhore says stop, nor are they going to stop because the police started shooting first. The police get better guns, so the criminals get better guns. The police get body armor, so the criminals get armor piercing rounds. Three strikes gets you life with no parole, criminals start leaving no witnesses. "An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind".
