In honor of all the Electronc Voting "glitches" yesterday....
My favorites were the machines that just REFUSED
to register any votes for Democrats at all.
Yeah, that's just a coincidence, right? :puke:

Anyhow, new graphic is done.
Swipe it, send it, trade it with your friends!

1. Great image!
I thought Animal Farm was a more precise metaphor than 1984.

10. Just a few interesting RECENT stories:
Texas Recount stopped due to machines failing to print reciepts for all votes:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=2180704&mesg_id=2180704

And the chicago elections were a major eClusterfuck (Including at least one
machine that ONLY ACCEPTED REPUBLICAN VOTES):

12. Supreme, smug ARROGANCE. They know we notice....
...but they laugh, and ask "What are they gonna do about it?".

So, what are we gonna DO about it?

16. Yes!
I've often thought of Animal Farm in regards to $$$ being a form of "Free Speech".
That one is difficult to work into the "equal" comparison.

But this graphic on votes is perfect! Well done :)

17. Thanks! I often feel that '1984' gets too much credit...
...because '1984' is just a description of a society
which is "after the fact" of a totalitarian coup.
(Not to mention that '1984' is a complete ripoff of an earlier novel)

But "Animal Farm" is a much more IMPORTANT work;
it shows how these things happen,
step by inexorable step,
in language that anyone can understand!

BTW, you are one of the many DUers with awesome UserNames
who I am forever envious of.
Someday, I will conceive a cool DU handle...but not today.:evilfrown:

27. Animal Farm was a very disturbing read.
Wonder how many years Orwell spent engrossed in writing about oppressive, misanthropic totalitarianism. I'd think that would be incredibly depressing. It’s kind of a wonder he didn’t suicide himself.

Thanks for the compliments on my UserName. :)

28. Believe it or not
We read Animal Farm when I was in eigth grade. In public school. In its entirity.

This was in what is, to this day, the poorest, most run-down, most underacheiving middle school in the Mobile county Alabama public school system... But everyone, and I do mean everyone in that class of 35 understood exactly what happened, what the message was, and how it applied to all of us.

I don't figure it would be quite so catchy to the children of the Pigs in the better schools. Could just be my own bias though.

29. I read it in school too.
Wonder if it has been outlawed yet.
The Pigs' children aren't in "better" schools, they're in "more equal" schools. ;)

Welcome to DU, BTW :hi:

This is making my head explode.

It is no freakin' coincidence that all these "glitches" are in favor of the Republicans.

Do we need to draw someone a map?

On edit: Great graphic.

20. Back in the 1760s, a lot of smart people asked those same questions.
Don't let yer head explode, just start to think outside the box.
And plan accordingly.

History repeats itself- and the 'Boston Tea Party' for all the eVote
machines grows closer by the minute.

We will always be at war with Iraq.

"Orgy Porgy Ford and Free. Kiss the girls and make them free."

we live in a Brave New World.

22. Really? * just told us. It's a forever war. Presidents (plural) will
decide on the fate of this war.

I never thought that I would live in a time predicted by "1984." Or "A Clockwork Orange." Or "Animal House." Or "Brave New World."

But now I am.

Damn, it's tough.

23. FYI: B*sh is a ranting idiot; the syphillis has rooted in his brain.
Pity him, laugh at him, whatever rocks your boat.
But whatever you do, don't actually LISTEN to his feeble attemts at raving!

There used to be an OTHER fellow named 'George'
who held absolute, godlike power of life and death
over every human on this continent.

He never, ever broke ANY "laws", because every law said
that whatever insane shit he did was LEGAL.

He also thought thought that "someone else" would be the one
to deal with his problems, in some future time he didn't give much thought to.

Here's his picture:

And today, there are more "official portraits" of him
than there are people who actually KNOW HIS NAME.

He was "King George the 3rd", and a bunch of
insurgent rebels overthrew his lawful government
and founded a radically liberal nation called the 'USA'.

Do you even know GeorgeIII's full name today?
I don't.
I'm sure I heard it once,
but it was not relevant enough to bother REMEMBERING.

And he was the asshole who pissed off enough people
to start the mightiest nation to ever oppress the planet!

You worry that your grandkids will ever hear about IRAQ?
They won't even recognize the name 'Bush'.

24. Great post.
Yes. I kind of know about this guy. LOL

But I do not want a dismal future for my kids or my grand kids (if they ever come about).

Right now, George 2 is mortgaging their future. For a stupid war!

It (the war and it's mentality) must be stopped for so many reasons.

Sorry, really nice post. I'm just not that articulate tonight.
