From Freeperville: The Cult of Dumbya Lives !!!!!!
Hallelujah and Praise Jaysus !!!!

"He's the first President of the 21st century, the leader of the free world, and the man who is keeping my family safe from foreign attack. He has received more votes for President than any man in history. The light of God shines upon his countenance while millions of people pray for him each and every day. The effects of his existence will be felt for generations and beyond."

12. I LOVE THAT PART ABOUT MORE VOTES THAN ANYONE!
Under that scenario, bush would be 10 more popular than Lincoln, and only slightly more popular than FDR who until bush had received more votes for prez. Although bush only recieved 2.5 million more votes than GORE and KERRY Combined which means GORE IS 10 times more popular than lincoln to. GOd those freeps are gone in the head

13. The Kool Aid is strong: Freepers want Bush on Mount Rushmore. WTF?
Well that would be a reason to completely write off South Dakota. :(
Holy crap! :wtf: Read this only if you have a strong stomach:

To: Dont_Tread_On_Me_888

From an essay by John Reynolds:

After Appomatox, everyone remembered that they had always supported Lincoln, just as (I am told) every Steelers fan now recalls prophesying the triumph of their team in the middle of the season when the playoffs looked hopeless. Such fans, such supporters, are welcome to the party. It is human nature to lose hope in tough times and then to forget that loss when those times change. Nobody would judge such folk harshly, but better still to have been more a simple human, to have been a civilized man. It is the nature of a civilized man to remain undeterred by obstacles in pursuit of his great goals.

There are forty percent, we are told, of such men and women in this war. Aren’t you glad that we can always tell our children that we were in that forty percent and know it is the truth? When we look up at Rushmore and see George W. Bush there, wouldn’t you be glad that before victory was obvious to even a Democrat you saw it coming? These are good days to support the President!

I am proud to be one of that 40 per cent. I have no respect for your opinions, and the reasons I gave in my earlier posts.

Conservatism has many variations. Yours is the "glass is empty, things are crap" wing of conservatism, and you are carrying water for the Rats.

I have nothing further to say to you, and further posts you make will be taken in the spirit which you obviously intend.

I actually don't mind going there, if for nothing else than the comedy value. What these moonbats come out with sometimes is just priceless.

The unfortunate part is there are so many of them - some rabid, some milder, but all cut from the same cloth. It's funny and sad at the same time.

Edited on Wed Mar-22-06 10:13 AM by AussieDave
and heavy rain has washed out some roads - they're trying to get generators to restore some electricity until the power lines can be fixed.

Two towns (Innisfail and Babinda) were all but destroyed, and banana and sugar crops have been wiped out - the price of bananas tripled here overnight. There are many volunteers going up there to help in the cleanup, and fortunately there were no deaths and few injuries. It'll take a long time to rebuild, but people persevere as we all should do.:hi:

(on edit: misspelled "suger")

41. It's amazing that no one was killed! What good news (and good planning.)
Edited on Wed Mar-22-06 11:31 AM by CottonBear
I saw a picture of a destroyed banana plantation. The banana trees looked like someone took a giant weed whacker to them. :( Fortunately, sugar and bananas don't take too long to re-establish unlike other crops such as the nutmeg trees that were destroyed on the island of Grenada when it was hit hard by a hurricane. It could take decades for their nutmeg crop to fully recover. (I have Grenadian friends who lost their homes. Over 90% of the homes there were destroyed.) :(

My husband's family survived hurricane Katrina. Some no longer have homes. My sister-in-law still doesn't have her roof fixed and she doesn't live in the worst hit area (there was no flooding of her home.)

I hope that y'all persevere and that your government does a better job than ours. Let us here on DU know if there is anyway we can help you guys down there.

:hi:

If it's like everything else he's ever done, a year or so after it's carved, it will start chipping away and then cause the whole damn cliff to crash, forcing Poppy's relatives and friends to bail out the park from the ensuing mudslide.

15. Did you know that the Left controls Congress?
I learn new things every time I visit that hell hole. :eyes:

Get this post:

But Congress is already controlled by the left. When you add the RATs to the leftist Republicans, and when you see what type of legislation emerges from Congress, nobody here can doubt that the left already controls Congress. Everybody here on this forum should be working to make our guys stop legislating as leftists.

This is why we need a president to override the leftist Congress, and that has not happened. We need to work on the here and now, not worry about the next election. We need to show these leftists in Washington that the voting public demands conservative agenda. After all, we did vote in Republican control in all three branches. The problem is that Republican does not guarantee conservatism as we have witnessed.

__________________________

The president should "override" Congress? They really DO want a king. This has to be one of the most unpatriotic things I've seen in a long time.

If he's off script, he speaks in gibberish and non sequiturs, often falling back on personal cliches like "hard work" and "heck of a job".
