Fair and Balanced: Meet Ben Domenich
Edited on Wed Mar-22-06 08:26 AM by FLDem5
Crooks and Liars pointed me to this fun bit about the Washington Post's newest "journalist"

Here is a direct link to the fun!

<snip>
The question of the day is how Ben Domenech, a 24 year old with little journalistic experience who lists among his credentials being the "youngest political appointee of President George W. Bush", was hired by the Washington Post to be their conservative blogger providing balance to...I dunno, their editorial page which was gung-ho for the war in Iraq.

<snip>
How do I know this? Ben Domenech said so.

Never trust a male cheerleader. <12/12/01> (You know, Ben, Bush was a male cheerleader)

I believe this war will take longer than the pundits were saying beforehand, but I also don't think we're going to be forced into a long door-by-door campaign in Baghdad. <3/30/03>

Al Qaeda is getting smoked out in Iraq -- and anyone who thought there was no connection better line up for their serving of crow. <3/28/03>

And here is my absolute favorite find so far:
Claude Allen is as clearcut as a razor's edge. He's a stand-up, principled Virginian. <5/13/03>

...and for your reading pleasure, an more on who Ben might just be:

This is the update - Whose your daddy, Ben? Henry V perhaps?!

<snip>
Ben, is that you? RedDan has a theory that Ben Domenech has posted at the conservative blog, Red State, under the pseudonym "Augustine." I think he may be on to something. Augustine always ends his posts with the line, "This story shall the good man teach his son," from Henry V. Ben Domenech likes to reference Henry V.

You can go here to read all the good stuff Augustine has to say!

1. More fun... family connection to the Abramoff Scandal?
no, really... Check out what Josh Marshall found: http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/007962.php Seems Daddy was the WH laison with the Dept of Interior who moved requests (for fear of reaction for not acting via Ralph Reed's constiuency) on to the Interior folks.

"In case you're keeping note: I solemnly swear that if I ever hold legislative office, I'll introduce a bill outlawing any federal or state funding for NPR, and instead give the money toward reopening the School of the Americas.

old stuff"

and does this little tidbit mean he's FOR 86ing Diebold?

Microsoft is furious that the Pentagon is using open source software instead of MS products. But a recent report prepared for the Defense Department concluded that open source software often results in more secure, less expensive applications and "if anything, its use should be expanded." Come on, Microsoft -- can't we all just get along?

That's what I have been told here on DU. If it's so noble now, how come this hitler youth wants to fund it with NPR $$?

5. What an idiot.... I am guessing he is ignorant of Fed organizations
given that NPR is radio and School of Americas is... related to training "future leaders" to either foment revolution, or to maintain the masses in order to maintain control - that is an apples to oranges comparison which means zilch.

I have an inkling that he meant "Voice of America" which is a propoganda radio arm of the govt that was used back in the cold war to send radio news/propoganda from Europe into the old soviet union and its satellite states. That is - I think he is suggesting he would try to kill the independent (sorta) NPR and replace it with a state media/propoganda arm.
