18. Yep...No Challenger In The Primary For Bean
The fun in the 8th is the Repugnican primary between Salvi & McSweeny (looks like McSweeny has an early lead)...and the GOOP has been pouring in the money and ground troops to try to win this seat back. Gym teach Denny sure doesn't like all them Democrats creeping up on his back door.

24. True But A Far Cry From 30 Years Of Phil Crane
To those who call Melissa a DINO or try to compare this district (I live in the 8th...and have for over 20 years) with the "bluer" city districts to the east or to other "safer" Democratic areas don't understand the politics of the area and how far Democrats in this region have come.

Her biggest sin was to vote for the bankruptcy bill...which I strongly disagree with, but at the same time I heard her explanation which was a purely political. Much of the district still in heavily Repugnican areas, including the very rich Barrington area that was Crane's money base for decades. It was a calculated move to try to neutralize this group from getting more involved in the November election...and to exploit a fractured local Repugnican party. Consider this and the 6th as areas in transition...many city folks have moved out and the politics are slowly changing. It wasn't long ago that I was one of the lone Democrats in my precinct and votes for the GOOPs topped 65%. Those days are gone, but a lot of work remains.

21. that depends on whether you want the progressive
Christine Cegelis is backed by PDA (Progressive Democrats of America) and other progressive groups...

or whether you want the inexperienced Iraq War vet being pushed by the Democratic Party leadership, Tammy Duckworth.

28. IL 10th District...
Dan Seals is leading Zane Smith by 68% to 31% with 25% of the precincts reporting.

It's an important race because Mark Kirk, the rubber stamp republican, needs to be beat. And if anyone can do it, Seals can. He's very much in the mold of Obama.

30. Chicago Tribune calling it for most Dem incumbents
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/elections/chi-primaryresults-htmlstory,0,2520894.htmlstory#congress

THey've called it for Rahm Emanuel, Danny Davis and Jerry Costello. And to be fair, they are utterly crushing their challengers. So is Bobby Rush, but they haven't called it
