Bush: "From my perch...the economy appears to be strong..."
Is this the same perch you we on when you flew over New Orleans and peeked out that tiny window?

The most insulated, protected, man in the world thinks his view of the economy actually means something...

Another classic "Let them eat cake" moment...

1. His pockets are lined...
He and his cronies...that's his reality. Period.

Peace.

2. That's a lofty perch
On the Nightly Business Report tonight, they mentioned a poll result that only 33% responded favorably to the economy's direction.
Hmmm... isn't that the same percentage as the idiot's approval rating?!

3. I'd say his perch is perilously shaky.
I hope. Fingers crossed.

4. His perch?
More like, "If anyone has poo, fling it now, in order to distract from my failed policies and the fact that I just don't like poor people!"

8. From his gilded perch..
Everything looks just fine! HE won't ever have to worry about paying the mortgage, feeding his kids, buying basic necessities.

So, everything is just peachy. Got a problem with that, Mr & Mrs Middle America?

13. I'd guess that from the top of the money heap, the economy
would look good. Now, let him look at my bank accounts and pay stubs for the past 5 years.

Oh, wait! He's probably already had the NSA do that.

18. It's the Ronald Reagan perch
Imagine this country being an aquarium.

In an aquarium, unless you're one of those maniacs who keeps huge piscivores like oscars, piranhas or channel catfish, there are three levels of fish--top-swimmers, midwater-swimmers and bottom-feeders. The top-swimmers tend to grab anything floating on the surface, so if you don't want the midwater-swimmers and bottom-feeders to starve you must use sinking foods.

In the case of the economy, the food is money and the only way it sinks is if the top-swimmers--the Lee Scotts and Bob Nardellis of this world--throw it down.

Bush, and most Republicans, look at this aquarium from the top. They see the top-swimmers up there grabbing all the money they can and growing fat off it. Democrats look at the aquarium from the side...where they notice that the only things doing well in the tank are the top swimmers (the CEO class) and some of the midwater people (middle management) who can swim up to the surface and grab a little for themselves--through playing the stock market, knowing how to play the horses, or whatever. The bottom-feeders--the workers? They're like plecostomus catfish, which are very hard to see emaciation in because the armor plates keep you from seeing the sunken bellies. The workers are leveraged to the max on credit cards, interest-only mortgages, 84-month car loans and the like. They're spending like mad, but it's not their money. And when the bills come due...watch out.

19. "What's gone wrong with the economy"
The man is delusional. The economy could not be better for Bush and his cronies. The past few years have been phenominal for them. We aren't even the peons to this group.

20. He meant to say throne, not perch.
If he thinks the economy is so freaking wonderful, we should send him all the bills we can't pay: health insurance, heating oil, gasoline, college tuition, medicine.
