Why do the news people say we're "entering the third year of the war"?

So when you casually insert false facts in there, the dim witted are more prone to believe it. Then when you get an intellect like kerry out there, they're sitting there scratching their heads goin' 'huh?'. The way a person is not called age 1 until he/she has actually gone into their second year.

Like so: "The three year old conflict...blah, blah...".

It would be a slick way into misleading people into thinking the war hasn't lasted as long as it has. It's just another way of lying with the truth.
