Sen. Durbin Says Censuring Bush Premature
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060320/ap_on_go_co/bush_censure

The democratic party has NO MORAL AUTHORITY and stand FOR NOTHING!

censuring is NOT premature, what is pathetic is after six years of lies, deceit and death, these kind of comments are made

1. Actually, Durbin never said that. It's a bad headline.
Read the article -- there's nothing in there about censure being premature.

From a Kos diary:

3. Thanks for posting that.
Senator Durbin is a great man. He doesn't deserve knee jerk headlines.

6. actually I did read the article and that is exactly what it says
"A top Senate Democrat said Sunday that President Bush should be held responsible if he violated the law in authorizing the domestic spy program. But Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois said it is too early to tell if either censure or impeachment of Bush would be appropriate."

This is the paragraph in the article. I will go to the daily kos, and hope you are right

but I would like to remind everyone that the repukes have already said this "investigation" of the FISA act will be back-doored with a very limited number of senators, who will rewrite the law. In addition, we are the minority, and there is NO WAY IMPEACHMENT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. I would like Senator Durbin to understand that impeachment originates in the house NOT THE SENATE, and if this isn't the appropriate time to determine whether censure or impeachment is appropriate, then it never will be

After six years it is pathetic, but let me go to Dailykos, and hope I am wrong, and come back here and appologize if so

7. "Either censure or impeachment"
What's wrong with both?

8. We quibble over the word "Premature"- Durbin did not say that
the headline writer took liberties with his exact comments. "Too early to tell" is not the same verbiage as "Premature".

I also clipped that exchange on CanOFun, just listened to it again, he did say it was too early but he also gave a spirited defense of why, in his opinion, more investigation needed to be done first.

9. I just read the daily kos, and saw the interview
first I appologize because the article is an intentional DISTORTION of what Durbin actually said, and I have written AP, and asked for a correction for deliberately distorting the facts

We are even in worse shape than I thought. The press has now blatantly taken a side, and intentionally distorted what someone said. This is so unreal

I hope Senator Durbin gives them hell

10. Thank-you for the correction
I messed up big time, I believed the intentionally misleading article by AP

In a way this is even more alaraming. They are misrepresenting facts. Why should it surprise me. They did the same thing prior to the war in Iraq

Thanks again for pointing out the TRUTH. I am very grateful to DU, and daily Kos, where would we be otherwise

5. Sen. Durbin is a good man.
Sometimes! I don't think Russ ever thought that there would be enough votes for censure, but if he hadn't raised some hell, the pubs were sweeping it all under the rug like all Bush's other crimes. I think it was a smart move, but I never expected it to really bear any fruit. I think Dick Durbin is on our side most of the time. That is a hell of a lot better than some of our congress critters.

12. You are right, and I was wrong, but I am leaving it as is
because it is the AP headline, and I think it is instructive for people to know how the press is intentially distorting what Senator Durbin said.
