Digby and Hamsher == If not now, when?
Digby:

Feingold stepped up and spoke for millions of Americans who see this administration's abuse of power as a very serious matter for which this president should be held to account. We are desperate for such leadership and we care nothing about the lack of political politesse with which it was raised. The president and his party are held in very low esteem by two thirds of the country. If not now, when?

Read the entire, excellent blog at:

Hamsher:

The response of the Senate Democrats to the Feingold censure resolution aptly demonstrates how thoroughly disconnected they are from the strong feelings in the netroots community about the illegal NSA wireteps. They seem to have no concept of stepping into a leadership position and channeling that emotion into positive action. So let me speak in a language that even the dullest, the most remedial, most thick-witted Democratic consultant can understand.

And she does:

We departed the realm of "politics" when Scalia stopped votes from being counted on Saturday morning, December 9, 2000, and SCOTUS stomped hard on the Republic the following Tuesday.

Everything that has happened since has been damaging to our Constitution, our ability to protect and nurture humanity and the planet, our ability to be credible in matters of ethics and law.

Bush and his neoconster minions have converted the strength and capital of America into an atrocity machine, unrelenting in its imperialist pursuits of more wealth and more domination.

"If not now, when?" -- indeed.

Hamsher states it clearly:

It is an enormous mistake for anyone to stick their finger in the wind right now to see which way it's blowing before committing themselves on this issue. This is not partisan politics. This is not political chess. These are our core beliefs as Americans, our rights as citizens that are being messed with here, auctioned off to the crook with the fattest wallet -- just like the ports.

"If not now, when?" -- indeed.

5. I like the reply to the Digby article...

"Third, there was not even a hint of party strategy on this."

Yup, I agree with you, Digby. Seems that almost everyone says "What's wrong, Dems have no backbone" so there doesn't seem to be much point discussing, let alone looking for a consensus.
This is just about the first act I've seen that shows the Democrats might actually do something real.
Sometimes, when everyone is sitting around, waiting for someone to do something, I guess someone actually did something, instead of sitting around.

Feingold has my respect, far more than any other, now.
The Democrats are seriously in jeorpardy of being ignored as 'all show and no go'.
All talk, as it were.

6. K&R!
Sometimes you stand on principle, without waiting to see who's following.

7. Great post!
I do enjoy watching the Rethugs scurry back to rally around Fuckstick McAwol as his number are circling the drain. But the bi-partisan hearing in the Senate Judiciary? Makes me weep. That one must be Joementum's bright idea, since all his other bi-partisan investigations have been so fruitful.. sheesh.. I'm probably just a little punchy from all the body blows from these idiots.
