Sign Tallying Military Deaths Upsets Army
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051231/ap_on_re_us/iraq_sign

DULUTH, Minn. - Scott Cameron never imagined his modest memorial to American troops in Iraq would transform a quiet street here into the latest front of the nation's tense debate about the war in Iraq.

His sign tallying the war's dead and wounded rests feet from the local Army recruiting office, and Cameron's refusal to take it down despite Army requests has drawn national attention. The fuss is giving the Vietnam veteran a chance to air a view he wishes he'd expressed long ago.

"The way veterans have been treated in this country is shameful," Cameron said this week.

His tribute has irritated the military recruiters next door, who dislike the daily reminder of friends lost. Staff Sgt. Gary Capan, the post's commander, requested that the sign come down for his colleagues' benefit.

1. Good for Scott Cameron
I don't know if he reads DU, but I wish to thank him for his service to his country-both in Viet Nam and now. He is absolutely spot on about the shameful treatment of veterans, and people contemplating signing up should keep that-and his statistics-in mind.

2. SO BRAVE, fighting the US military like he's doing!
Why then are some Democrats so unwilling to call the GOP and its miserable King George on the carpet about so many things?

I understand there will be hearings early in 2006 on the spying deal. But what about the aggregate of the past 5 years?? The alcoholic Chimp has done SO VERY MUCH that would ordinarily land anyone else in jail for a real long time. Why is he so different from us and keeps getting away scot-free?

I'm asking for Democrats every where to radicalize themselves a bit in order to be brave enough to unseat this Crawford AssClown like this wounded vet is brave enough to take on the military recruiting station next door to himself. If we were all brave and tough like this man, Cindy Sheehan, Kristen Breitweiser, Molly Ivins, brave enough to call a GOP spade a useless hack, just imagine how different America could be if we all kicked it up a notch or two or three.

Happy New Years to all DUers.
