Imagine....
...Democrat Senators don't condemn Feingold for his censure resolution, they just remain silent.

...Republican strategists assume this is typical Democrat beaten-wife syndrome and throw out a few tired, old arguments in a to get some good sound bites on film for their upcoming campaigns.

...Democrat Senators still appear to hem and haw.

...Republicans call for an immediate vote to kill this and unify their base. They are giddy.

...Democrat Senators show up and quietly, without fanfare, unanimously support the Censure, picking up a few honest Republicans along the way. Frist is left sputtering on the floor of the Senate.

If only this was all a strategy, instead of typical fear-of-commitment on the part of my party.

A girl can dream, can't she. .

2. I had the same dream for the filibuster over Alito -
I thought at the last minute, the Dems would come together and do it; that their lack of cohesion was some sort of strategy. Ah well. :hi:

7. Maybe they'll surprise us -
I can't for the life of me figure out why Kennedy has not supported cloture. Maybe they do have a plan. We'll see. ;-)

3. Just thought of the scene in "Putney Swope"...
...where EVERYONE on the board of directors votes for Swope for chairman of the board, because each thought nobody else would, and that their vote wouldn't make a difference. Heh.

8. Exactly!
As long as we're fantasizing here ...

The Dems wait until the last minute, as you say, and each Repub figures he'll vote YES on censure so as to look like the 'maverick', the guy willing to stand up to the president in front of his constituents.

The only problem is ALL of the Repubs think the same thing, that they'll be the ONLY one.

So it winds up being UNANIMOUS!

Ah, yes, we can all dream ...

9. That is DEMOCRATIC Senators, not Democrat Senators.
Just a fyi. It's an adjective.

10. The jury is still out on that one.
Not the difference between adjective or noun but who they represent.

11. I usually do type it that way, but I read someone else
correcting that. They said that Democratic was a form of government and they were Democrats.

So which is the right one??!

12. Well, for starters, the rightwing has started referring to the Democratic
party as the "democrat" party. It sounds flat, offensive... kind of like "crap".

The traditional name is the Democratic party. Except that now it's supposed to be some sort of cuss word, according to the rightwingers.
