11. Naw. They wore that one out.
Everyone is onto them on the Terror Alert Level, I think. After the 2004 Election, even Tom Ridge came clean on its misuse.

30. Not a red alert...a feather-covered alert
Human terra won't work any more. Americans just laugh at Bush when he tries it anymore. So they're moving on to "natural" phenomenon, so Bush can swoop in and protect us like a great, strong leader, and we'll all swoon from under our tuna-laden beds and toast him with warm reconstituted milk.

2. The neo-con fucks have not faced the reality that Iraq is LOST
and are going back to fucking carpet bombing thinking (I use the term loosely) that they can 'get rid of the last few insurgents'.

Remember, many of these same hacks 'did' Viet Nam.

Freaking war criminals is what they are.

10. Answer: Yes.
They can't really rely on raising the colorcoded "Terror Alert Level" anymore, because everyone is pretty much onto that.

So, today, the administration launched the largest air strike on Iraq since the war began. Also, he conveniently "reaffirmed" the pre-emptive use of force, vis-a-vis Iran, known as "The Bush Doctrine."

Both actions have little to do with substance and everything to do with a sinking presidency.

It's a sickening shame.

13. The cable news channels (CNN and MSNBC) are having a WARGASM.
Edited on Thu Mar-16-06 11:36 AM by TahitiNut
They just love to 'thrill' at these military operations, a little like the folks who gathered on hillsides to 'enjoy' watching civil war battles nearly 150 years ago. MSRNC is in FullWhare Mode ... framing the "window of opportunity" for Democrats as Junior's "performance on the ground" in Iraq. It's really breathtaking ... back to the days where everything and anything was an "Act of God" except now it's all about an "Act of GOP." Everyone and anyone else is merely supporting cast on the GOP stage.

She has this evil grin on every time CNN plays it's "BREAKING NEWS" music.

This is so "Fahrenheit 9/11" it's creepy. The adrenaline, the rallying, the lack of mention about Bush's sagging, pathetic popularity...

20. I hate to say it, but she really does seem aroused ...
... by a certain class of story -- this being one of them. She really has a very disturbing manner ... so dissonant with some of the stories she 'reports.'

I have to wonder how they miss the totally BIZARRE nature of a fullscale military operation in a country that's had 'democratic' elections and nearly three years of the gentle, parental hand of US intervention. Isn't it two years and ten months since "Mission Accomplished"??

BTW... Hi, Mod Squad All-Star! :hi: :pals:

22. Soledad O'Brien actually had the guts to bring it up this morning.
Soledad said, "And this has nothing to do with the President's poll numbers?"

Her coanchor, Space Whore Miles O'Brien (no relation, of course) shot her a "STFU" look the likes of which I'd never seen.

No mention of Bush's poll numbers since. They've been blown off the radar by Hurricane Airstrike!!

BTW... What UP Mod All-Star!! :hi: :hi:

15. I don't think so.
I think that the idiot mistakenly believes that the opposition to the war is based mainly on the number of US dead. With air strikes they can continue to murder Iraqis while minimizing US casualties.

This is such a bad knockoff of that earlier movie - what was it called? Oh yeah, THE VIETNAM WAR.

31. If it is
Then it's a stupid more of the same sort of thing. If the people are sick of the war, and all the pundits say that the prez needs to chnge the message and renew his image, then the answer is not more war.

At best, it only appeals to his own rapidly eroding base of support. For the other 60% of us, it mostly illustrates why we think this guy's an idiot.

His people probably say 'sir, Americans want to see a leader who is tough on the terrorists and resolute' so he says "yep, lets git 'em"

Maybe they don't even have a clue that what Americans really want to see is a way out of this war, at least 60% of Americans, that is, enough to can his ass in November.

33. it's got multiple purposes, among them poll numbers
First of all, it's designed to knock off the air all the other stories, from Feingold's Censure Motion, to the debt ceiling increase, to WH staff issues.

Second, it's designed to help lay the groundwork for the Iran war. We will find out about weapons caches with Iran connections. We will find out about Iranian agents operating in the area.

Third, it's to set up a major post northwest of Baghdad, in anticipation of the Iranian conflict.

Fourth, it's to field test the US and Iraq troops.

Fifth, it's to help Bush at home by getting Americans to follow the live warfare, which always has great currency.

Clearly, the main objective is to help Bush in the polls, however.

34. If it is, they've miscalculated and he'll dip lower
This all out, largest offensive will tip the remaining supporters because it simply doesn't fly with what Bush etal has been telling the 'Marekin peeple. The administration has insisted Iraq is not in a civil war. What was it Bush said a few days ago...That the Iraqi people are at a moment of choice (or some such threat)?

Bush etal has been touting ever-growing strength of the Iraqi forces, too. And then "the largest offensive since '03" is launched?

We've also been hearing this requires a political, not a military solution. Not to mention a LOT of talk with the term "Iraqi Unity Government". You can't square that while watching bombs drop from US airplanes.

The tipping point has arrived.

40. Why is it that the largest operation since 03
takes place 3 years later? This is all about escalating the war.

What the hell have they been doing for the last 3 years if we're only just now getting around to this?

Also, the photos look a hell of a lot like Apocalypse Now. I guess we could use napalm if there was anything left to burn.

I'm a little surprised they even brought up the question. Wow.
