Who's going to pay for our gas if we attack Iran?
You know gas prices are going to skyrocket out of control once we attack Iran. Even though we don't buy oil from Iran, many other countries do. This is really going to fuck things up. What's going to happen to our national economy when people simply can no longer afford to go to work? For many of us, public transportation just isn't a valid option.

The economy is going to tank like nobody's business.

1. Bush will invoke one of his faith-based initiatives - he'll have us
all praying for lower gas prices.

2. I believe that's why we won't attack....
...aside from the fact that unless we go nyookyoolear (bushism), we'd get creamed. Our military is just spread too thin.

4. I doubt we'd invade in the conventional sense
I think any military action against Iran would be limited to bombing runs and missile strikes. Of course, this has every potential to spiral out of control, and enflame the entire Middle East.

6. Doesn't matter, the rich will still get theirs,
While the rest of us will be screwed. Hell, Bush, Cheney, and a lot of their rich friends all have state of the art alternative energy systems powering their hideaways in Crawford, Wyoming and elsewhere. They'll be just fine, and again, if the economy crashes, the rich will view it much like they did viewed the Great Depression, as a buying opportunity.

7. If I owned oil company stock, I'd expect a big dividend check.

Even just the threat -- and I think that's all this is -- of a war with Iran is an effective device to transfer money out of your wallet and into theirs.

If we regain control over Congress, the Dems should pass a windfall profits tax bill that will place a surtax on oil stocks and war speculators. That would take a lot of the incentive out of warmongering, and put a lot of money back into the pockets of the middle-class.
