Does Patrick Fitzgerald ever get any sleep?

U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales (2nd L) answers questions after announcing charges against twenty-seven participants around the world in an Internet-based child pornography ring as U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald (L), Assistant Secretary for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Julie Myers (2nd R) and Deputy Chief of the Toronto Police Service Tony Warr looks on, in Chicago March 15, 2006. U.S. and Canadian law enforcement officials said on Wednesday they had cracked an international pornography ring that featured live molestations of children streamed over the Internet. 7. You know, there was a short discussion last night at our house
>"Hmmmm, who'll make the announcement when I indict you?"<

on that very subject. I asked DH if he thought America's Hottest Prosecutor had the (I'll keep it clean, okay?) intestinal fortitude to indict his boss.

Of course, we all know he does.

president for life of the PFEB

8. Actually, Fitz is more powerful than the Attorney General...
He has equal power to the A.G. and he does NOT answer to the President. The only way he can be removed from office is through impeachment or through his own termination of the investigation.

12. Not accurate.
The president can remove him. But Fitzgerald would have to make an error in order for the president to do so. The part about impeachment or self-termination is not correct.

15. I'm sure you've read this:
http://citizenspook.blogspot.com/2005/08/treasongate-us-attorney-generals.html

In that article, Citizen Spook explains why Fitzgerald CAN NOT be fired by the President (Bush can try, but GAO would step in).

And ANY INDIVIDUAL that is part of the administration CAN BE impeached. That is true and part of the constitution. Granted, Fitzgerald would likely need to commit a crime, which will not likely happen.

And Fitzgerald HAS PLENARY AUTHORITY, so he has the power to terminate himself.

17. I am aware of the site.
I'm not just saying this with any chance of being wrong. Bush can fire Fitzgerald for cause.

9. I worry about his diet all the time.
Too much fat, too few nutrients. I'll bet he didn't believe them when they said ketchup was a vegetable, but decided to go along with it, anyway.

13. Apparently not, according to the Observer profile:
He spent so many nights sleeping in his office that he would keep used socks in his desk drawer. Colleagues knew that if they had to get hold of him at 3am, the first number to call was the office. 'I get emails from him in the middle of the night,' said William Mateja, a former colleague. 'He just loves his job.'

14. Of course they want to keep him busy.
This is no knock on Fitzgerald but there's so much work for him to do that he can't devote all of his attention to Plamegate.

I'm sure the Republicans just hate that.

16. Plamegate is still his top priority.
Remember, Fitzgerald has almost 200 eager lawyers working for him from the Chicago office and the CIA Leak case. He must be very good at delegating.
