3. Actually, this was the first time I've seen TDS do an anti-dem sketch...
...when virtually all of the DU response was POSITIVE. Check out last night's threads. It was widely considered to be brilliant.

We've come a long way!

8. If only they allowed the voters of Ohio the chance to vote in the
primaries. During the '04 election I found precinct captains for my 12 precinct suburb and oversaw the GOTV. I am not working for the Dems this year over their refusal to acknowledge the corruption in the election system and their refusal to stand up of their inner city voters. (ie the GAO Report and the multitude of evidence uncovered) I know of other precinct captains who are not working over the Hackett ordeal. This was one huge mistake.

18. I hate that folks overlooked the obvious re: Hackett...
the Democratic base who vote in primaries will usually vote for whoever the D is in the general election, the concern is getting the Independent and Republican votes that will be necessary to win statewide in Ohio come November...a lot of people felt and still feel that Hackett had a better shot at those votes, because as we well know, if it's close, THEY WILL STEAL IT!!

I hope Sherrod Brown can get enough of those votes to keep it from being that close, but I'm not at all convinced yet...

31. Don't sweat it
Brown actually knows how to run campaigns and raise money, two things Hackett didn't know how to do. He's better suited for smaller races.

32. Thanks, but we Ohioans need someone who can get elected
Hackett was an interesting candidate, but he wasn't ready to run a large, combative, expensive statewide race for US Senate in Ohio.

The purpose in backing a candidate is winning the race. Hackett wasn't going to do that with a poorly run campaign, and no motivation to raise money. We'd all like to announce for a race and have the party hand us $30 million on a silver platter but it doesn't work that way.

We need candidates to win races, not just make headlines.

He should have stayed in the Congressional race. Jumped the shark. It happens.

he wasn't going to get money from the party...why did the party leaders (Reid, Schumer,etc...) ask him to run instead of going to Brown from the get go...asking him to run then not run then taking away support they promised and then trying to coerce him to run for something else made everybody look bad ...and he understandably felt jerked around and abandoned...

...anyway I hope your confidence in Brown is well placed...November will be here before you know it...

38. As someone who has investigated (and is still auditing) the '04 election,
your fears are well placed. I am sure you are aware of the GAO Report on Electronic Voting Machines and the amount of investigative work that went into Conyers (and the House Judiciary Democratic Staff's) "What Went Wrong in Ohio", well more evidence has been uncovered since then. Why the Dems are confident despite this evidence and the fact that if congress changes hands then the Dems will have subpoena power is beyond me.

29. that was a classic!!!
I really think the guy is a natural. It's hard to find pols who are actually good on TV. Many are good with voters, but lousy on tv, but this guy is great on TV.

If I were advising him, I'd get him a deal on TV with one of the cable networks, and get his face all over the place. He's money.

The Daily Show takes the modern campaign process out to the woodshed for a old-fashioned beating, and Paul Hackett enjoys every second.

I complained a few months ago that Jon Stewart was not really doing us any favors by making fun of Dems when they actually do something. This is totally different. Here they are making fun of them for being too scared to do anything.
