Ask for Truth in Fur Labeling!/ Please take action
The U.S. House of Representatives is considering legislation, H.R. 4904, the Truth in Fur Labeling Act of 2006, which would close a loophole that allows garments featuring fur valued at less than $150 to be sold without identifying it as animal fur or specifying the species of animal or country of origin. Without proper labeling, consumers can't always tell if an item contains real fur or faux fur -- and today's processing techniques make it nearly impossible for consumers to tell the difference. That's why a simple, honest label is so important. By requiring a label, H.R. 4904 will allow consumers to make educated choices about whether or not to wear fur.

TAKE ACTION:
Please make a quick, polite phone call to your U.S. Representative and urge him or her to support and co-sponsor H.R. 4904. You can reach your Representative by calling the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121, or click here to find your Representative's office phone number

2. would like the label to say exactly what kind of fur
the country of origin, sure, that's fine as far as it goes, all clothes are supposed to have the country of origin aren't they, how did the fur items slip thru this?

i strongly support the use of some fur, such as nutria from louisiana, which is an alien invasive species that can eat the entire marsh if let alone, just telling me "yay, usa" or "nay, china" does not necessarily tell me the species of fur used, in any case, dog and cat are not an endangered species, but there are many other fur species i would not care to purchase

a clothing label that just said "fabric" instead of "cotton" or "polyester" is pretty durn useless, so too a label that just says "animal fur from china!" tell me the species while you're printing labels anyway

Consumers should have a right to know whether they are purchasing animal fur and if so, which country produced the fur used. I am concerned that dog and cat fur could be entering the country illegally as unlabelled fur trim.

5. do you strongly support animal abuse?
Because I don't know of any fur produced without it.

On fur farms the animals are mistreated just as bad as on "food" farms, and in the wild, they are trapped and left for days to starve, drown, freeze, etc., with broken limbs. If you think this is humane, I have a leghold trap in my garage you can try.

7. something humane? like maybe birth control?
There are entire organizations that work on issues like these, and there are always ways, if people would just have a little patience and learn not to be so bloodthirsty.
