6. I hate to say it...
but I want him dead.

I wouldn't have been able to serve on this jury. Carlie Brucia looks so much like my daughter and when I first saw that tape, it scared the hell out of me. When I saw her picture I cried. I cried again as I listened to the horrible things this animal did to that child.

I'm against the death penalty and always will be. This was an emotional gut wrenching tragedy I'll never forget.

11. What enraged me further
was the way he tried to profit from this crime, by telling his brother where the body was to attempt to get the reward money for his, the defendant's, children. His brother, I believe, then led police to the body and other evidence. I don't know what happened to the reward money, but this made me nauseous.

19. If I remember correctly ....

his own brother and his mother both said he deserves to die.

Smith tried to put out a contract to get his brother killed for testifying against him while he was in jail. But a U/C got wind of it.

8. Good.
Evil bastard. I may be alone on DU on this issue but I do support the death penalty in cases where the crime is horrific and the evidence is clear.

24. You are not alone.
I agree with what you said when the evidence is clear. DNA test available and paid by the state when necessary.

10. An 11 year old girl was kidnapped, raped and murdered...
and her abduction was caught on tape. This happened in 2004 in Florida.

Can't say whether or not you should care.

13. No one deserves the death penalty
Everyone deserves to at least have the chance to be rehabilitated. If he becomes a changed man, what good can he do the world if he is pushing up daisies? If we murder him for murdering that girl, we are stooping to a sub-human level.

20. All my liberal beliefs go out the window on this because
I have a daughter the same age as the girl he killed. I am sorry, I heard what he did to that little girl. He deserves to die a thousand deaths......

23. Same here...
My wanting him to die comes from the gut. There's no logic or reasoning with it.

This little girl reminds me so much of my daughter. I know I would want anyone who did those things to her to die a thousand times over in the worst possible way. Worse yet, I'd want to be the one to do it myself.

There's no way I could have ever served on this jury.
