I Don't Know If Feingold Was Right But Once
he introduced the Resolution for Censure, most democrats should have supported it. Now it's turning into a real defeat for dems. Only four have signed on. The others may have their reasons for not wanting this now, but it's there, and not supporting it lends support to the repubs and bushco. It looks bad. Maybe they're pissed at Feingold, but they need to put that aside and speak up for the Resolution. Having said that, Feingold shouldn't have introduced it without having at least 20 other Senators on board. What a bolloxed up mess this is turning out to be.

1. I don't know how much of a mess
this actually may turn into, but I am beginning to think that there is a degree of professional jealousy involved. Feingold has been getting a lot of attention lately. Many of these people have serious ego issues.

2. I agree with that. Censure should occur after an investigation, but there

is no way anyone can make a GOP senate do their job and investigate. So, I understand Feingold's bold use of an unconventional method, but sometimes even ATTEMPTS at process can help even bold moves.

But, since he did start it, he deserves support for it........ just as IMPEACHMENT deserves growing support.

4. The president's lies deserve a censure, if nothing else
Feingold clearly articulated four times when the president claimed he was abiding by FISA and knowingly wasn't.

6. I told my senators I liked what Feingold was doing.
Some one has to do the right thing for the voters even if most Senators will not. What Senators voted with him?

3. short-term defeat, long-term win
Feingold was absolutely right to come out and say it. It's ridiculous to wait for the right political "moment". Feingold, unlike nearly everyone else in federal government, is defining moments, not waiting for them.

5. The best case scenario
unless something drastic changes is that this will never leave committee. If it's voted now, it would be spun as a bi partisan vindication of Bush - which might be why many liberal Democrats are against it. I also suspect that those who indicated they would vote for it have mixed feelings about it on a political level. I really don't think they are against it because they are mad at Feingold. (In fact after the losing Patriot Act, Reid spoke in the Senate saying many very positive things about him.)

8. It can't be wrong if you are standing up for the Constitution
At some point these Democrats have to say screw political expediency, screw what my campaign manager/pollster is telling me what to believe...

These people took an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. Even if the effort at censure fails due to Republicans holding party favor over love of country and constitution, the effort had to be made. it is his JOB, he took an oath and he is acting on that oath.

Screw the cowards who can't even stand on principle, who won't speak for the dead soldiers rendered forever silent by Gorge Bush and his Administration.

9. I disagree
one voice for truth is far better then silence. I'd rather have RUSS light the candle of censure, then curse the criminal activity of BFEE.
