Top U.S. Military Official: No Evidence of Iran Involvement in Iraq

Washington Post Staff Writer

Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, said today he has no evidence the Iranian government has been sending military equipment and personnel into neighboring Iraq.

On Monday, President Bush suggested Iran was involved in making roadside bombs, known as improvised explosive devices, that are being used in Iraq. And Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld last week accused Iran of sending members of its Revolutionary Guard to conduct operations in Iraq.

Today, Pace, the top U.S. military official, was asked at a Pentagon news conference if he has proof that Iran's government is sponsoring these activities. "I do not, sir," Pace said.

Rumsfeld, standing beside Pace, said today it is difficult to ascertain whether the Iranian government is directly involved in sending military equipment and personnel to Iraq.

3. Is there a link? I checked WaPo. Good for Pace. I guess he
would rather live a shorter life with a clear conscience than continue to support this pre-emptive invasion possibility. I can't imagine why he would go this route, given his propaganda speeches over the last few months, though.

4. So is Rummy pretending to be not convinced so that when suddenly more...
"evidence" comes out he hopes that he will sound more convincing when he says he wasn't sure before but is now?

Is Pace playing the same game or is he rebelling against this LYING regime... or maybe he didn't he get the memo?

With this lying, spinning bunch, if they said a new moon night sky was dark, I'd be hard pressed to believe them.

5. Here we go again ...
Bush and Cheney start making statements as if they're true, and it doesn't even get rebuked or challenged by the talking heads of MSM.

I can hardly wait to hear Scott McClellan NOT explain this one.

8. ***PETITION TO SIGN: NO WAR WITH IRAN ***
Hello,

For the past year, the growing tensions mounting between the US, Israel, and Iran are reaching a point where military action against Iran is w/in months of becoming reality. The repercussions are terrifying as such military action could involve countries such as China and Russia as they share massive energy/economic interests w/ Iran. The most likely scenario we would face would be the collapse of the US economy as the combination of a massive rise in oil prices and a run on the US dollar would surely be the weapon many countries would use to fight back against a preemptive US or Israeli strike.

For a collection of articles and resources on this subject you can visit this link: http://reseaudesign.com/research/iran/iran_summery.html

I'm starting up a petition which I will be sending out to as many members of Congress as possible. I'm asking for help to get this signed by as many people, possible in the next month. Send it to as many people you can.

Also, here is another petition you can sign from another group:

Thanks for your time
