I mean think about it. At this point Bush has lost the majority of the independent voters and is even beginning to cut into the Republican wing nut base if the polls are to be believed.

Besides jumping up and down and bitching about stuff what can the Dem's do right now anyway? Not much.

I suspect people are going to want change next election no matter who is running. I may be wrong? But I don't think so.

1. I agree somewhat....
I've never been one to attack Democrats for not standing up more, but this lack of support for fellow Senators has really got me pissed.

In saying that, I agree that Bush and the Republicans are making easy on the Dems chances. I actually believe that his poll numbers are much worse. If Republicans voted the way they actually feel we might see his numbers down near 25%. I think they vote to approve out of hatred of Democrats.

2. The Dems are leaving a vacuum
a complete lack of an alternative to the excesses of the present party in power.

Even though they lack a majority, they should be standing up and vocally opposing the destruction of our civil rights, the cafeteria approach to law and treaty, and the general push to turn this country into the third world.

They're not. They're rolling over in appeasment with the majority pursing their lips and tut-tutting every time Howard Dean or John Conyers let some of the truth slip out.

Lacking an opposition party, most people will simply stay home this year. Expect piss poor turnout and no changes in the makeup of Congress.

3. I couldn't disagree with you more. Why you ask? Read on.
Because the GOP knows how to run campaigns.

Bush beat Richards.
Bush beat Gore (doens't matter that Bush stole the election, he found a way to win)
Bush beat Kerry "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" ""

Look at what the GOP did to McCain in S. Carolina.....and jee wiz, now look at who McCain gave his votes to last weekend in the straw poll. What a guy!

Wow......that Max Cleland is a traitor....better not vote for him said the voters of Georiga.

IF ANY OF US TAKE FOR GRANTED THAT JUST BECAUSE RIGHT NOW WE SENSE A CLIMATE OF CHANGE IN THE COUNTRY....GUESS WHAT??? THE GOP DOES TOO.....AND GUESS WHAT....THEY ARE PLANNING THEIR CAMPAIGN STRATEGY TO COUNTER ACT THAT CLIMATE.

4. They could START by jumping up and down and bitching.
To the extent that our "leaders" run away and fail to support brave voices like Feingold, they are in dereliction of duty. Is it too much to ask them to at least speak the truth and vote for decency? They may not win every vote in Congress, but they will win hearts and elections.
