Hillary tells Democrats: It's Time
Hillary tells Democrats: It's Time

"It is time to move away from influence-peddling, right wing ideology and incompetence that stems from the well-qualified taking marching orders from the well-connected. It is incumbent upon us as Democrats to make the case for change, because we have to persuade some of our fellow citizens that they, too, must be ready for a change. Let's just run through some of the choices that the Washington Republicans made. Now they could have saved the surplus, invested in Social Security and Medicare, paid down the debt, covered the cost of Iraq and Afghanistan and paid the modest tax cuts for the middle class and working poor. Instead, they chose massive tax cuts aimed at those who needed them the least, tax loopholes and giveaways for oil companies to top-off their record breaking profits."

. . . everyone is employed in a good-paying job, everyone owns a home, there's a chicken in every pot and more trickling down all the time.

Right?

25. Hillary's NY primary opponent supports censure >
Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 01:24 AM by Stephanie

And he also supports impeachment, and we should remind Hillary of that when we call her office.

Here is Jonathan Tasini's statement on censure >

“I support Sen. Russ Feingold’s proposal that the U.S. Senate censure George Bush for his illegal wiretapping of American citizens. Feingold is right when he asserts that the Bush Administration, ‘repeatedly misled the public prior to the public disclosure of the National Security Agency surveillance program by indicating his administration was relying on court orders to wiretap suspected terrorists inside the United States.’

I call on Hillary Clinton to join me in supporting Feingold’s proposal.

At the same time that I support Feingold’s proposal, I believe that the illegal conduct of this Administration has been so rampant as to justify the filing of Articles of Impeachment in the House of Representatives against the president and the vice-president.

7. Has the tide changed in the last 24 hours?
Are Democratic leaders ready to express the will of the party's members, and claim the advantage that is waiting for them to seize? To stop being hedging, triangulating, meet-you-halfway on torture, domestic spying, and illegal war offering could-be's, and speak the truth, and the law, and bring to life the limbs of this incredible machine we call American democracy?

that works for her. Those who like ther style will sign on and support her. She probably realizes that her vote total won't be 80 percent and above. Hill will have enough to win, with votes to spare. Some Dems will choose sit on the sidelines while history is being made. She can live with that.

Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 04:12 PM by SOS
Hillary Clinton has won one election, NY Senator in 2000.

She came to New York as a world famous First Lady and wife of a popular President.
The economy was good.
New York is a blue state.
She ran against a completely unknown guy named Ricky Lazio, who was a last minute replacement for Giuliani.
She got 55%.

The latest Quinnipiac poll (February 2006) shows McCain trouncing Clinton 53% - 38%.

I think the source of the widespread anti-Hillary sentiment is well founded. I believe the main source is her continuing unreasonable (IMO) defense of her vote for the IWR. I just can't see any rationality to it and therefore attribute it to Potomac fever. How do you feel about her stance on Iraq?

52. My response to Hillary's request for DSCC contributions
Dear Senator Clinton,

I agree with you that America needs a change. However,
the change needs to happen within the Democratic
party. I will not send any money to support so-called
"Democrats" who will go along with the administration
on some of its worst policies, such as the illegal and
immoral invasion of Iraq.

In the words of Senator Feingold, a true Democrat,
"I'm amazed at Democrats, cowering with this
president's numbers so low. The administration just
has to raise the specter of the war and the Democrats
run and hide... Too many Democrats are going to do the
same thing they did in 2000 and 2004. In the face of
this, they'll say we'd better just focus on domestic
issues... cower to the argument,
that whatever you do, if you question the
administration, you're helping the terrorists."

You will need to convince me that you and the others
you support are going to change course and support
policies that benefit everyday Americans, not your
corporate backers, before I will contribute any money.
