1. Those results aren't surprising to me
Most people are too busy following the Brad and Angelina or Britney and Kevin saga. It's sad.

8. It ain't sad...'tis a big fucking joke on the idiots that are being
control by organized crime. junior and Tom DeLay think it is indeed sad, because they have all the best attorneys and judges and folks that control public opinion polls, that money can buy, and still might book a loser.

A great man once said, "people deserve the type of government they have" - the chickens are coming home to roost.

19. I Guess When It Becomes "The Biggest"
they will have no choice but to follow it. Dumbasses in denial hoping it will go away if they don't pay attention.

3. What is ABC doing?
It seems as if they are trying to determine if the Abramoff story is drawing
viewers--in other words--making them money.

The media knows this is explosive, probably more so than Plame.

However, for some reason--the general public doesn't seem as irate and
interested in Abramoff as some of the other BushCo scandals. Probably
because the scandal involves reading a bit and sitting down for 10 minutes
to understand all of the dynamics.

I don't think people will really begin to pay attention until the shine-ola
hits the fan. When Jack starts singing and gives people some juicy sound bytes
that's when people stop their Wal Mart shopping for a few minutes--and tune in.

Just my opinion...

10. They have real polls to determine that...
I know ABC does not use web polls to determine their content
when they have more viable ways of surveying... Web polls are really
just candy for the masses.. like horoscopes.

But what's interesting is... these online polls do have SOME affect on
popular opinion.... say if a million people go in and see a poll tilted one way
or another...it may reinforce their opinion, it may open their mind to consider
another point of view.. or it may entrench them in their own position.
Who knows?

The whole online world has opened up all sorts of new options that influence
public opinion..from blogs to polls to email blasts to communities like DU.
It's interesting stuff tp think about .. but generally all comes back to the
basics of human nature. We all want to belong.

11. Have to agree with that - there's nothing sexy about the story yet
majority of folks are unhappy with Congress (but not their own, everyone else's) and think they're crooked.

Until folks get to hear just how Corporate America has screwed them over, it's not really newsworthy to them.

Interesting that almost half say not paying attention, but almost half say will be biggest story of the year - sounds like they're waiting on the gory details.

Idea for a new Reality TV - Buy Off Your Congresscritter - We could match up real lobbyists with real Senators/House Reps and buy our own legislation based on call in votes and text messages.

That nobody's following the story. They're setting it up so it doesn't get attention, the same way they're setting up Hillary Clinton to be the Dem favorite in 08'.

Anti-Christian Jeans a Hot Seller in Sweden

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (Dec. 31) - A punk-rock style, trendy tight fit and affordable price have made Cheap Monday jeans a hot commodity among young Swedes, but what has people talking is the brand's ungodly logo: a skull with a cross turned upside down on its forehead.

<snip>

The jeans' makers say about 200,000 pairs have been sold since March 2004 - and note they've received few complaints about the grinning skull and upside down cross, a symbol often associated with satanic worship.

<snip>

Atldax insists he has a purpose beyond selling denim: to make young people question Christianity, which he called a "force of evil" that had sparked wars throughout history.

<snip>

Cheap Mondays are flying off the shelves at about $50 a pair. The jeans have also been shipped throughout Europe and to Australia, and there are plans to introduce them to the United States and elsewhere.

I want a pair (or two). Anybody know someone in Sweden I could email and buy a pair?

47% are hardly following the story, but 44% think it is among the biggest stories...which means it's too complex for the average person.
