Roy Blunt Files with Missouri SOS Illegally!
Edited on Sat Mar-11-06 11:45 PM by usregimechange
In a letter from the Founder of Draft Kreider US Congress, Steven L. Reed asks the Missouri Secretary of State to investigate whether Roy Blunt has filed for reelection illegally. Roy Blunt has filed using a PO Box. The law requires that all US congressional candidates be residents of the state they wish to represent. Roy Blunt has been living on K street.

Reed's letter:

March 10, 2006

Secretary of State Robin Carnahan
Elections
James C. Kirkpatrick State Information Center
PO Box 1767
Jefferson City, MO 65102-1767
(573) 751-2301 (Voice)
(800) NOW-VOTE (669-8683)
(573) 526-3242 (Fax)
elections@sos.mo.gov

Jefferson City, MO

I am writing to question the filing of Roy Blunt for Congress as a P.O. Box address. It was my understanding that under the law someone has to file as a legal residence address. Local and national media has been listing Mr. Blunt as living at Indian Point.

What steps are necessary with your office to file a formal complaint or can this letter suffice?

Can you please address the legality of Roy Blunts filing with your office?

Sincerely,

Steven L. Reed
Founder of Draft Kreider US Congress

10. THANK'S! I wonder if he is still a resident of the district?
I suppose it's possible he got a PO Box to keep protestors away from his front door, huh?

15. Very interesting
http://www.beyonddelay.org/summaries/blunt.php

- snip -
In 2003, Rep. Blunt divorced his wife of 31 years to marry Philip Morris (now Altria) lobbyist Abigail Perlman. Before it was known publicly that Rep. Blunt and Ms. Perlman were dating – and only hours after Rep. Blunt assumed the role of Majority Whip – he tried to secretly insert a provision into Homeland Security legislation that would have benefitted Philip Morris, at the expense of competitors.

I'm wondering if maybe since his divorce and subsequent remarriage to a K-Steet lobbyist, Blunt never took the time to set up another residence in Missouri.

He should have to seriously prove he is a resident - through deed, lease, electric bill ... you know the kind of hoops a school district puts us through when we want to enroll our kids in school - just so he's not allowed to bullshit his way out of it.
