James Dobson is little more than a figurehead in Focus on the Family
Edited on Sat Mar-11-06 08:05 PM by ck4829
Leadership for the organization was provided by Dobson alone until 2003. In 2003, Donald P. Hodel became president and chief executive officer, tasked with the day-to-day operations. This left Dobson as chairman of the Board of Directors, with chiefly creative and speaking duties.

In March, 2005, Hodel retired and Jim Daly, formerly the Vice President in charge of Focus on the Family's International Division, assumed the role of president and chief executive officer.

1. it doesn't make him
any less of a horribly divisive person and a smaller voice in the media. We can only hope Abramoff will bring him down.

3. I know

But, we need to expand our focus.

The point I'm trying to get across is that FOTF, one of the most powerful organizations in the 'christian' Right, is actually led by a guy that nobody on the Left, or probably many of their own adherents, know about.

6. Soliciting for funds
Edited on Sat Mar-11-06 08:18 PM by teryang
I heard a radio program from a station saying it was owned by Dobson Communications. They were soliciting contributions for their "Christian organization."

The radio person was saying that he was very, very, dissappointed that the phones weren't ringing. Where were God's people? Why aren't they calling?

He then went on to chide his audience. During the hurricanes and other natural diasters, he heard people say, "Where is god, where is god?" To which he said, "Where are God's people today?" and repeating it, ad nauseum.

Kind of weird and perhaps misleading, as if contributions would somehow be used to help people still suffering from diaster relief or provide some kind of insurance policy for future diasters.
