keep your eyes out for this expression...
Flag, faith and family; free markets and free trade; limited government, local control and individual responsibility are the ideals championed by Heritage Foundation president Feulner and Townhall.com chairman Wilson in this conservative manifesto on what's wrong with America and how we can fix it. Drawing on Heritage Foundation research, according to the foreword, they prescribe a litmus test for government policies that readers can employ on their own by asking the following questions of any proposed policy: "Is federal action necessary?... Does this measure promote self-reliance?... Is it responsible?... Does it make us more prosperous? Does it make us safer?... Does it unify us?" Censuring both "tax and spend" Democrats and today's "borrow and spend" Republicans, the authors are critical of the Bush administration and the mushrooming national debtÂ?$7.7 trillion at the time of publication, they note. But their tally of federal waste (e.g., overpayments in tax credits for "the undeserving poor") and fraud to cutÂ?$100 billion worthÂ?comes nowhere near closing the huge federal deficits they decry, and their solutions (e.g., flat tax and Social Security privatization) will surely provoke partisan debate.
When you have something called "the undeserving poor", then you've got a great excuse for cutting programs for the poor. Simple as that.

1. thanks for the post
self-reliance is a fallacy. We are all interconnected. Social Darwinism is a failed policy, and as a liberal, I am in direct opposition to it.

19. My thoughts, too. "Deserving Rich".
As opposed to those smelly, ungrateful "Undeserving POOR"...

Why give tax breaks to the POOR? They'll just go out and SQUANDER it on shit like FOOD, or MEDICINE, or, Gawd Forbid, DONATIONS to the DNC, instead of INVESTING it in GE, or Raytheon....

6. "research" LOL
they wouldn't know real research if it bit them in the butt - all of these right wing think tanks are merely PR firms whose flacks have been given titles like "Senior Fellow" to give them a cachet of authority and blow smoke in the eyes of the proles.

9. The Heritage Foundation is special in that it was founded by
Nazi sympathizers (Coors family) and was originally run by actual Nazi's and Nazi collaborators, to promote Nazi ideals re-packaged and re-named conservative ideals.

16. OK, there are several books and I'm sure I still have at least one of them
Unfortunately we tend to be totally internet-centric and these facts were researched and reported prior to the internet, so there won't be a link, but I'll get the author and ISBN.

7. That phrase has always pissed me off
I've heard it for years from right wingers and have asked them to define it.

"Lazy. Don't work. Have children for the tax breaks.Abuse the system. Don't contribute to society. Criminals."

Some of the few definitions of "undeserving poor" I've gotten over the years.

8. the undeserving poor
Oh, please, please, please. Oh, I am BEGGING them to use this awkward construct. Oh, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

I just canNOT wait for the first time they use it and someone reasonably asks in front of a large audience, "Just who does deserve to be poor?" Could be a source of wide-broadcast embarrassment for them.

The right has shown their hand and if the Dems are half as smart as they ought to be, they will take a cue from Hillary. Don't argue their smear points - turn them back at them. When they call you angry, implying you are mentally unstable, respond with "Yes, who wouldn't be angry at (long list of GOP sins and crimes)" When they speak of the undeserving poor, demand to know who does deserve to be poor.

10. How right you are. This is the only way to do it. Go on the attack
by turning their own talking points against them. Just see them try to defend those allegations.

12. "Kinder, kuche, kirche"
Translated from German, it means "Children, kitchen and church," an old Hitler slogan.

"Faith, flag and family" sounds a lot like it.
