Simply Rove doing what he does best -- and it did take the limelight off Abramoff and Katrina etc....!

5. Bush drops Ports deal then books to India/Pakistan
I believe the "ports" deal was BS. ala Rove to create some "different news -- let's see how long the afermath of comments remain -- a week maybe two before it's back to hopefully Abramoff continueing exposure of more shady Reukes!

7. It was a distraction that backfired.
NBC news 'reported' that the port deal is just the beginning of the Repubs breaking from Bush. Maybe that was Rove's intention, but I think the Repubs come out stinking from this stunt.
