Cheney's girlfriend. I don't even remember her name.

If I ever needed any other evidence that the media hos are in Bushco's pocket, that would be it.

If this had happened to Kerry, Edwards, Gore, etc., her name would be a HOUSEHOLD WORD.

there's a reason you can't remember her name. Her husband was there. Jeez, do you think every time an office holder goes somewhere without his/her spouse it should be news?

Ms Armstrong was put out as the eyewitness but she didn't actually see what happened. She was told what to say. Ms. Willeford, the Ambasodor to Switzeralnd, was right next to Cheney when he fired. No report from her on the offical statement of the occurance is on record.

49. If you have a scanner, and an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program
...that came with it, open the program or install it if you never did.

Then put the article on the scanner (face down obviously), and click the scan button (within the OCR program or Scan Now, Preview, Save as, etc., in one of the drop down menus if it doesn't have a "button") and see what happens.

If the text comes out as a lot of gibberish, try changing the scan resolution to a higher number, that might help. Most likely you'll need to proof-read it carefully for any weird text errors.

If you don't have a program that does OCR, or to just scan the front of the page photo, set the resolution to 72dpi and after you scan it, you should try to re-size it to about 5 or 6 inches tall.

Then you'll need to upload the picture (jpg) to either one of those websites like "photo bucket" or to your personal web space or website. Then post the link in a reply post here.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

54. CHENEY'S OTHER WOMAN?
Notoriously secretive Vice President Cheney's bizarre hunting accident has alot of people wondering why 14 hours elapsed before a near-deadly mishap was publicly reported. Some speculators are saying Cheney was hunting more than quail when he shot his pal Harry Whittington on the ranch of a Texas lobbyist on Feb 11 and needed time to cover up an affair with a longtime galpal. "It's Cheney's Chappaquiddick!" dec;ares an internet blogger. He was with a woman to whom he was not married. Others suspect booze was involvedabd tgat tge 65-year-old veep needed time to sober up or that Cheney had a heart problem that made him collapse and accidently pull the trigger, shooting Whittington, 78.

-snip-

Some bloggers even wildly suggest that Cheney hunting partner, Pamela Pitzer Willeford, the U.S. ambassador to Switzerland, actually fired the errrant shot but Cheney took the blame to divert attention away from her. This much IS known-Cheney was in a three person hunting party on the 50,000 acre ranch of lobbyist Katharine Armstrong and at about 5:00pm Whittington was hit in the torso, neck and face by approximately 200 pellets from a 28-gauge shotgun.

-snip-

"Has anyone asked if it might have been the other hunter who actually shot Harry Whittington?" ponders lawyer and broadcaster Cenk Uygur. "Imagine the kind of attention Willeford would have received if she was the shooter. It's possible the only thing more damaging than the vice persident shooting someone might be his mistress shooting someone!"

-snip-

Meanwhile, Cheney's relationship with Willeford- whose physician husband George was at the eranch that weekend but didn't hunt- is longstanding. She collected $23,000 for Bush/Cheney campaign, serves as head of the Texas Higher Education Board and was appointed to the highly sought-after ambassadorship to Switzerland. But even without Willeford, the incident reeks of coverup, say sources. "Someone with a documented history of drinking problems causes a serious accident and then avoids the authorities for a period of time, long enough to get the alcohol out his system, " says broadcaster R.J. Eskow. "It's about power, drinking, irresponsibility, and dishonesty. If there was a romance going on, the issues are the same. Along with the secret mistress and drunken gunplay theories, some bloggers believe that Cheney had a heart problem and his implanted defibrillator kicked in, jolting him into shooting his gun.

-snip-

There's no link, I got this from the Globe paper/tabloid. Take it with a molecule of salt, considering the source BUT these days, the media we considered reliable have been anything but..

41. Yep, and look here, I just found a quote from the "Kenya Times"
So far, this is it: <http://www.timesnews.co.ke/09mar06/nwsstory/opinion2.html>

Press freedom must certainly have limits

By Omar Ahmed Ali

Everyone wants to be the first among equals in defending press freedom and freedom of speech. Since the police raid on the premises of the Standard and KTN last week, several editorials and commentaries have been written castigating the government and defending the freedom of press. Our publicity seeking politicians have not be left behind, they too have joined chorus of the defenders of press freedom. In democratic societies, the true guardians and the responsibility of protecting the freedom of the press first lay on the hands of the media. Freedom of press and democracy go hand in hand but this freedom cannot and should not be abused on the pretext of defending it....

(clip)

...Kenya is a third world country, and many unsuspecting newspaper readers are subconsciously conditioned to believe whatever they read in their favorite newspapers and magazines. Majority of Kenyan print media’s consumers are not ‘matured’ to decipher—the stories, news and political analysis— between the lines. There is good number of Kenyans who don’t even know the dissimilarity between what is known as mainstream media and the gutter press. The line that differentiates between the two in the country is very gray if at all it exists. So when supposedly mainstream newspapers act or behave like gutter press in some instances it becomes very difficult to differentiate which are facts and which are “manufactured facts” that have been cleverly made to look or appear as ‘true facts’.

In the United States people know when it comes to gutter press or tabloids newspapers and magazines. Consumers of this kind of press expect sensational, factual, truthful, half truth and fictional news/stories—they could care less if they are all made up stories(which in all instances that is the case) with accompanying photographs bought from paparazzi.

In fact, people buy their wares not as source of news or information but as a source and craving for a dosage of trash and or junk news—a kind of entertainment so to speak. For instance, the current edition of the Globe (gutter press) has a picture of the US Vice President Dick Cheney and an eye catching headline: “Cheney was caught with another woman” and goes on to add ‘the shooting incidence was used as a diversionary measure’. Now Americans know that to be a false statement, but they would still buy the weekly magazine and read it and enjoy the fun. Others could have fakes stories on President Bush, former President Bill Clinton and others would have made up stories on Hollywood popular celebrities et al. There is a viable market for this kind of junk and or garbage news. The same way some people crave for a dosage of nicotine (in cigarettes) people do for junk/trash news....

Hear me out on this one for one second. Maybe the reason why we knew so much about Monica and not Cheney's mistress (insert her name here) is because most people can stomach the visualization of Clinton engaged in a sexual act. From a ratings perspective, how many minutes could YOU endure of listening to the media whores discuss Cheney's *shudder* sex life? Doesn't the idea make you throw up a little in your mouth?

Aside from that obstacle, your overall point is spot on. ;)
