I mean this from the most Patriot Act-supporting position I could imagine someone would have -- even if I believed such a perverse, draconian measure were actually necessary and the law as written the best human hands could craft in the circumstances, I could not bring myself to laugh or even smile as the measure was signed into law. The fellow in the middle, with the gold tie, can be excused his look of gleeful merriment -- he looks dimly retarded and is probably happy his underwear is dry. But what do the rest have to celebrate?
