interests.

On CNN now.

Sen. Warner read a press release from the Company on the floor of the Senate.

edit to add some more info:

From CNN:

DP World to hand U.S. facilties to 'United States entity'

Dubai Ports World has agreed to turn over all of its operations at U.S. ports to a United States entity, said Sen. John Warner, reading a statement from DP World. He said the reason is "to preserve" the strong relationship between the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

7. I haven't heard anyone explain exactly what this means yet.
They are still yapping about but I haven't heard any meaningful explanations yet. Shocking from TV news, huh? :)

Too damned convenient; I'm not buying it until it's investigated
thoroughly.
And yes, Halliburton wouldn't surprise me in the least.

11. Sounds about right
Just add some layers to block the view and POOF! No problems. And it makes the GOP in Congress look like they actually stood up to the junta.

Not buying that things have really changed.

31. Halliburton has already been suggested as being the only corp.
up to the job. You know, like the work they got in no-bid contracts in Iraq because no one else had the whatfor to get the job done except Dick Cheney's corp that still pays him compensation.

33. Well, they have performed down to bush** admin standards while
maintaining to bill the American taxpayer for goods and services they did not deliver. And managed to get the Army to say they're gonna pay for their 'non-performance' as well.

How capable is that?

ally?" They showed their true colors right off the bat.

18. Lots of unanswered questions!
CNN reporting the ports was only 10% of the DPW total deal, the rest was all financial. No one seems to know exactly what this whole thing means.

25. Selling our assets and interests to the highest bidder is never
a good deal. I hope this means that Americans are finally fed up with giving into Bush and his tyrannical Arab friends.

,...that doesn't mean the contract isn't still going through.

I'll wait for more details on this.

This all could have been a big farce in order to let Haliburton take over our ports.

30. Well, when Bush "refused" to ask for the 45 Day investigation the
WH got the Company to "request" it.

Now, the WH knows that this deal will NOT go through so they have gotten the company to alter the deal so they (the WH) can save face. Everything is PR and bullshit - as usual. The WH doesn't have to back down. The company decided to do this. Yeah, right.
