1. We have a president who isn't one
He represents the corporate globalists and has no idea or concern for the American worker. None at all. Nor does he care.

36. Why should he care?

He came from the same financial world as his father. The only difference seems to be that his father was more "prudent."

1. The 9-11 whitewash. I don't buy all the conspiracy theories, but the 9-11 report was woefully insufficient, and the media have let it die.

2. The fact that Bush's spy program is ILLEGAL, a crime, an impeachable offense

3. The fact that Bushco are blaming the CIA for bad intel on WMD in Iraq, when the only bad intel was that that they coerced the DIA into fabricating for them.

42. The major reason this is never going to be reported:
It IS one of the characteristics of a fascist government. :( :grr:

Controlled Mass Media
Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

48. The near-term instability of our petroleum-based economy...
Edited on Thu Mar-09-06 03:12 PM by Spider Jerusalem
and the serious need for massive investment in mass transit infrastructure and energy alternatives.

In terms of impact, this is probably the most important issue currently facing America (and by extension the world)--oil production has been relatively flat since 2004 (and may begin to decline); demand continues to increase by 2-3% annually. The demand curve and the production curve are going to intersect at some point, and it's looking like it may be sooner rather than later, what with political instability and hints of greater conflict in the Middle East, along with the ever-increasing demand for oil from China and India. Once this happens, prices will spike ($100 a barrel seems to be the low range of the forecast), and economies worldwide will be driven into recession and possibly even long-term depression.

Time is running out to even begin to meaningfully address the problem, but unless we get a start on it everything else mentioned here is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

56. There's a phrase for this - "State Run Media"...

I thought I'd never see the day when this would happen in America. I was taught, from grammar school on, that freedom of the press is a noble and Constitutionally guaranteed practice because without it -- tyranny is allowed to fester & grow in the dark.

We the people now must acquire and publish the entire truth, without relying on the compromised & bloated former champions of same.

Time to ignore the men behind the curtain, and broadcast in our own way what we believe is right and true. It's our (endangered) First Amendment responsibility to do so.

If the people don't do it -- who will?
