6 of 23 Voting For The SD Ban Were Dems. Couldn'tve Passed Without Em.
Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 05:58 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
I just learned that. Out of the 35 Senators voting, 25 were republican and 10 were democrats. 68% of the repubs voted yea (17) while 32% voted nay (8). On the flipside, however, 60% of the dems voted yea as well (6) while only 40% voted nay (4). Not sure how many here actually saw that yet, as I've seen no mention of the split and only see anger towards conservatives within the abortion debate, though of course they are the most pertinent violators.

What I'm wondering is why I haven't seen any threads yet calling for email campaigns or otherwise to voice opposition to the dems that voted yea, when if they alone had voted nay the bill would've failed. For your assistance, the list is below.

DEMS
YES-6
Julie Bartling, D-Burke; Frank Kloucek, D-Scotland; Gil Koetzle, D-Sioux Falls; Garry Moore, D-Yankton; Jim Peterson, D-Revillo; Dan Sutton, D-Flandreau.

NO-4
Gary Hanson, D-Sisseton; Jim Hundstad, D-Bath; Ben Nesselhuf, D-Vermillion; Theresa Two Bulls, D-Pine Ridge.

4. No "campaigns" because few of us give a shit about state senators in SD.

I dunno why you would expect these people to respond to anybody from outside their district. I know my own representatives generally don't give a shit what I think, so I have no doubt that a conservative Democrat in SD would care even less about my opinion.

My best advice is to stay away from South Dakota. I sure has hell wasn't going to visit before, and I'm sure as hell not going to visit now.

By the way, 74% of those voting for it were Republicans, so focus your anger on them.
