Shot down a freeper type today
Edited on Mon Mar-06-06 09:36 PM by Elwood P Dowd
He was bragging that Bush will get his way on the port deal and anything King George does is fine with him. George is fighting terrorism and keeping us safe.

So I looked at him and and asked the following.......

Let's start with Iraq. It's now common knowledge that Iraq had no ties to 9-11, no WMD, and little if any involvement with al Qaeda. Yet, we bomb, destroy, invade, and occupy this country. We kill a 100,000 of it's people, 2,000 of our own people, and waste hundreds of billions of our tax dollars to do it. We do all this to a country with zero ties to 9-11.

Now let's look at UAE. Two of the 9-11 hijackers came from there. Hundreds of thousands of dollars from that country helped finance 9-11. The leaders of that country are friends with Osama ben Laden and help finance al Qaeda. The place is notorious for money laundering and the smuggling of illegal weapons and drugs. Yet your great protector, George W. Bush, rewards them with a contract worth billions to run 21 of our ports. Bush punishes an innocent country, rewards a guilty country, and opens up our ports to friends of al Qaeda.

Does that help you figure this out, or did your fall from the turnip truck give you permanent brain damage?

Freeper type looks stunned, stutters, and walks away.

13. Thanks. This guy is old like me (58).
His children are safe here in the good ole' USA.

I've met worse than him though. I have two nieces (late-20s) who actually pray and give thanks to the Lord for sending George Bush to protect them and save them from terrorists and evil liberals.

9. The simple fact of the matter is if he hasn't turned against Bush by now
then it's likely he will never turn against him. Bush's support has been eroded almost all the way down to the core of the Republican base that votes Republican come hell or high water. I'm talking about that 30 percent that always will be Republican voters. Everybody else has already gotten off the boat.

I hate to say it, but Bush has convinced more Americans of how stupid his policies are better than the Democrats ever could, but I don't know whether to blame the corporate news media or blame it on the incompetence of the Democratic leadership.

20. That's certainly seems the case.
He's sunk his own boat well enough, but it still seems we--in particular our elected leadership should have and still should be doing a better job finding some way to get the story to all Americans about the malicious intent and terrible future consequences of all the un-American policies and games the Republican leadership (not just the Bush junta) have been pulling. Too many people and particularly average Republicans get all of their information and form all of their opinions and world-view from the mass media (and primarily TV), so they just aren't hearing what kind of crap's been going on--or if they're hearing, they aren't getting the truth about the implications.

Sure, some wouldn't believe their foot was on fire despite having seen themselves step in a puddle next to an overturned gasoline can and then moving some of the logs on the campfire with their foot and seeing the flames and smoke from the shoe and even feeling the heat with their toes. They are masters of believing whatever they want to believe regardless of a lack of evidence for or even in spite of evidence to the contrary. If they want it to be so, then, well obviously it must be so. The number of these people really is surprising, but I can't believe it's as high as 30-plus percent (see, now I'm the one that's refusing to believe the evidence--egad), surely it's a little smaller than that and just a consequence of people not being exposed to anything remotely resembling balanced coverage.

In any case, however, Bush--in his triumphal narcissism has managed to overestimate (albeit not by as much as I would have thought) his own invincibility or the degree to which he have do anything he wanted without any significant public protest. How he (well, not "he"--rather his 'advisors') could have done something so obviously universally unpopular and frought with politically damaging contradictions remains a wonder. A wonderful wonder. Keep up the good work George, we're behind you! We fully support your making such self-destructive mistakes. See, we really do care (but not in a nice way!).

I'm going to attempt to memorize this. THIS IS PERFECT. I'm lousy at putting together concise and simple arguments on the spot, and I'm usually reduced to stammering or just seething silently.

So many thanks!

21. Just give them a few days of listening to Rush and Hannity
These people need their marching orders. When you shoot them down, they go back to their repuke friends, spend more time listening to talk radio, and hang around repuke web sites. Eventually they memorize the talking points and come back for more abuse.

when I speak my mind on the politics of our country. I'm just tired of all the bullshit I heard over the years, and it doesn't seem like the right has been fearful of offending any of us. They made the word liberal dirty. I'm ready to ass-kick dirty back in their elephant ass face.

Say that our ports should be nationalized. When they go off on the evils of government ownership and socialism, point out that Dubai ports IS owned by the UAE government. I can only imagine how they try and backtrack from there.
