Top Iraqi general killed in gun attack - U.S. army

BAGHDAD, March 6 (Reuters) - A senior Iraqi general was killed in a gun attack on his convoy in Baghdad on Monday, the U.S. military said in a statement.

"Major General Mubdar Hatim Hazya Al-Duleimi, commanding general for the 6th Iraqi Army Division, was killed by terrorists March 6 at approximately 4:35 p.m. in western Baghdad," the statement said.

The 6th Division is the main Iraqi force operating in Baghdad, where it has been in the front line of efforts over the past two weeks to suppress sectarian violence erupting into civil war.

<snip>

"The responsibility of our army is to protect this country and its people," said Maj. Gen. Mubdar Hatim Hazya al-Duleimi, commanding general, 6th Division, "and because of the bravery of our armed forces that sacrifice themselves on a daily basis, the amount of insurgent activity will continue to decrease."

BAGHDAD is burning!

which tells me that on 7/9/1972
BGen Richard Tallman was killed by hostile mortar/artillery fire in the Republic of Viet Nam.

4. "Killed by terrorists" ?
Why not "killed by rebels", or "killed by insurgents" ?

More US propaganda, that's why.
