Vice President Joe Lieberman would he have been Gore's, Dick Cheney?
As a fan of speculative history can you imagine the potential clash between Gore and Lieberman, especially with Republican majorities in the House and Senate?

1. Gore's life insurance rates would've gone up.
Lieberman sure wouldn't have been Gore's version of Dan Quayle.

I don't think so.
No one could be as bad and insidious as Cheney. Besides, Iraq wouldn't have happened and we would probably have gotten bin Laden by now.

3. He would've been pressuring Gore to go into Iraq regardless if...
9/11 happened. He has always been a big supporter of AIPAC's goals. If I was Gore, I'd be damned to be the 2nd Democrat to repeat Viet Nam.

6. I suspect he would have been AIPAC's voice in the White House.
Joe is and was Neo-Con insurance just in case. Another American President had a similar problem in the early 60's.

7. Gore was an Iraq hawk, too...
He was a big containment supporter, endorsed encouraging regime change, but whether or not he would have invaded is another story.

8. I don't think he would've sponsored invasion at all.
If Bush Sr. thought invasion was a horrible idea, it stands to reason Gore would've thought so as well. Unlike Bush, Gore appears less blinded by ideology in the face of reality. Lieberman, on the other hand, I don't know, since he was one of ten legislators who signed a letter urging Bush to go into Iraq next right after the campaign in Afghanistan got moving.

9. I don't think so, either
But if a plan came along to support regime change that would've kept us out of Iraq, I bet he would've gone for it.

Richard Clarke had an interesting anecdote about Gore. He was at a briefing where they were discussing using black ops for something, and the militray planners balked at the legality of the operation. Gore said, "that's why they call them black ops".

I think he was a tougher cookie than he let on.

4. I was watching a PBS show on the history of computer gaming
and there was a young holyjoementum being a total asswipe about the horrors of violent video games. I am so glad he is marginalized. What a tool. Then again Tipper was on the same wavelength.

5. Nah, Lieberman is a weak reed blowing in the wind.
He would never have assumed the historic level of power and influence that Cheney has brought to that office.

11. Gore wouldn't have given Lieberman the power Bush gave Cheney.
Lieberman could have been Gore's Quayle.
