It needs to be the subject of every water-cooler discussion. Even Garrison Keillor, our midwestern bard, has called for impeachment. Let's get moving!

Second, GWB "Didn't tell the truth" and Clinton "Lied". Maybe that was the point of your post, but it's still pathetic to see in print.

22. I think they're just repeating the polling questions
FWIW.

I don't much care for where that graphic's going--there's a presumption that there'd be "backlash" against impeachment, when of course there's no way that impeachment will happen with a Gooper majority anyway.

As long as republicans control congress 90% of the public could want impeachment and it would not happen. If democrats win back congress you will probably see impeachment but no removal from office. I believe they would have to get a 2/3rds vote to remove him from office and we all know no republicans will vote for impeachment. By the time the new congress gets in and can actually get the process started Bush will be close to ending his term anyways.

31. I read somewhere that Bush has no intention to 'end' his term...
And 'witnessing' how much his 'Junta of Lies' hold$ 'dear' the Constitution of the Divided States of America, I think he wants his 'term' to 'last' 1000 years...

(Global Warming is 'Increasingly' Making Sure it Won't.)

7. The difference regarding potential for impeachment is:
President Clinton had a GOP Congress.
Chimpy has a GOP Congress.

The key is to vote in a Democratic Congress this year.

12. Perhaps Democratic congressional candidates should open their pitch at the
front door thus: "Hello, I'm ___________ and I'm running to impeach the President of the United States." Betcha you'd get a lot of people voting Democrat who otherwise wouldn't bother voting at all.

10. Look how hard they try to mitigate the pie chart with the images!!!!
Bush, smiling, looking twenty years younger than he does today, while Clinton, who almost NEVER frowns, is frowning with squinted eyes.

But hey, they are the ones who insist upon using those foolish ink-dot portraits in a digital world, and those tell-tale blues on the pie chart smack ya right between the eyes!!!!!

37. Portrait of a Blinking Idiot
Looks like they morphed a little JEB into Georgie's picture -- psychologically wooing voters for the Floridian's attempt at presidentiality? (You know he wants to...not matter what he says. It's a genetically-linked disease in that family.)

13. It doesn't matter
I'm convinced somehow - some way, this whole bunch is done. 2006 has started off to be a very bad year for them and I don't see that improving - they are imploding. They wait long enough for impeachment and the whole bunch is going to be run out on a rail for major crimes. They're done and I refuse to believe anything else. I see the glimmer of light coming through every day. They are not going to get away with the shit they have proposed.

They think Americans are going to let them turn us into Nazi Germany? They could not be more mistaken. We Americans have gotten pretty use to our freedoms - and the 34% can try and hand the rest of ours over - but it ain't gonna happen.

I don't necessarily foresee impeachment - but I do see arrests being made. Now that there going after the journalists - the CIA is after their ass, they're done.

17. Good post, if I may say.
You really hit the bullseye. Well stated. And in fact, when one looks back at Germany, it didn't last. It can't, because human nature doesn't like confinement.

It's nice to see people who share common sense.

Regarding the graphic- it's relatively the same situation as Nixon. Impeachment is unimportant. They're already history. The present just hasn't caught up yet.

NSA wiretapping, Katrina, Outing a CIA agent, Port Deal...I wonder how high support would be if all those were included as well. Chimpy needs to be impeached for many high crimes.

Yeah, Iraq's a biggie, but it's one among many.

think Congress should not consider impeachment if the president didn't tell the truth about going to war. A hypothetical if. Holy Smoke! I realize it's not a majority but I wouldn't think so many people would oppose impeachment under such circumstances.

The "yes" and "not sure" on Clinton = 36%. That is the hardest of the hard core repukes. That has got to be Bush's rock bottom approval rating as well.

Or does the bush picture look very Alfred E. Neuman?

Yes, I caught the bit about "president didn't tell the truth" and "president lied."

If a statement is phrased in the negative, as is the statement about bush lying, it decreases comprehension by about 35%. That is a figure I tell my communications classes all the time. It obviously wasn't lost on the r-w shills at the WS Journal.

36. WTF??!! Those Numbers CANNOT BE TRUE!
Are there really 45% that think it's OK for the President to LIE US INTO WAR???

There are 45% that think it's OK that 10's of thousands of Iraqi's and close to 3,000 US children have BEEN KILLED BECAUSE OF A LIE??

There are 45% that think it's OK that the President lied, and 15,000 OR MORE US SOLDIERS HAVE BEEN PERMANENTLY MAIMED!!!????

There are 45% think BANKRUPTING THIS COUNTRY OF ALL IT'S BLOOD AND TREASURE BECAUSE OF A LIE IS OK??!!!

Who the "EFF" are these 45%, and why aren't we stomping their guts out.

38. According to this
If Bush lied in getting us into a war that has cost thousands of military and civilian deaths and a quarter trillion tax dollars then that isn't good enough to get impeached. I always love these polls b/c it will be next to impossible to prove he lied about it, it's just reading between the lines. And according to this poll almost half the country is fine with being lied to as long as it's a Rep. doing it.
