Cruella Harris campaign in the toilet, cancelling appearances

and avoiding the media.

This article was in my local (Central Florida) newsrag this morning .....

Link: http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060306/NEWS/603060330/1004

Candidate cancels campaign stops as questions about contractor linger.

Already trying to avoid the media, Longboat Key Republican Katherine Harris is now canceling campaign stops in Southwest Florida as questions swirl about her ties to a Washington, D.C., defense contractor at the center of an ongoing national bribery scandal.

It's another sign that Harris' struggling campaign is now in full crisis mode. Political consultants say that shying away from the public right now is also a bad strategy.

Harris organized a conference call on Friday with her most loyal supporters in which she downplayed her connections to MZM Inc., saying, "There is nothing to it except for the press trying to be negative."

Her own party turned their back on her months ago before there was even any mention of the MZM scandal. I love it. The only thing better than this would be if Harris decided to get even with the rethug power brokers and wrote a tell-all book about the behind-the-scenes events that took place during the Y2K selection.

I don't think so considering they have to run every two years.

None of the seven candidates who are running in Florida’s 13th District this year can match the political celebrity quotient of the district’s current occupant — Rep. Katherine Harris, the Florida Secretary of State during the 2000 presidential election who is leaving the 13th open after just two terms to challenge Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson.

14. I doubt she'll cancel any gigs that might generate donations.

Even if she knows her campaign is a futile effort she will still welcome more money.

It's the press (i.e. going on record) that she wants to avoid.

I hope she rots in hell for all of the blood on her hands. I feel awful for having this much hate towards a person, but with her I just can't contain it.

Her troubles now are small consolation for all of the troubles in America and around the world that she is DIRECTLY responsible for.

I'm so glad this * is going down! I just hope you can put her in prison too, so that Ann Coulter will have a cell mate when she gets hauled off for voter fraud too.

Hope I can come back later and see that forecast come true too! :)

“The dark side clouds everything. Impossible to see the future is.”

I have a lot of sense that Sibel Edmonds and a few others like Russell Tice hold the keys to tying all of the facts together that will bring this administration down, but it's still hard to say yet. There are so many things in addition to that which could also bring this admin down too. Go sign her new petition to help her speak the truth at Brad's Blog.

27. She bullied the GOP into not contesting her primary
And now they're good and stuck with a losing candidate, hag-ridden by scandal and unelectable outside her cozy little tailor-made congressional district.

As K-k-k-ken said in "A Fish Called Wanda": Good.

28. In almost all cases the "C" word is not called for, however, for Cruella
Edited on Mon Mar-06-06 01:13 PM by Raster
de Harris, the "C" word isn't anywhere near derogatory enough. I will not fan the sexist fires, so I'll list other "C" words that describe the evil harpy: cruel, conniving, callous, condescending, cutthroat, crappy, caustic, and the list continues. Not only does cruella belong in prison along with the other bushco* and bfee criminals, she deserves a special place is penal hell for "opening the gate" that allowed these evil bastards to enter. Let it never be forgotten that this heinous excuse for a human being was the first to stab Lady Liberty in the back. The woman deserves to be stoned in the village square and everyone that loves democracy in the country should get a chance to throw a rock. Nothing is too cruel and unusual for cruella. She deserves EVERYTHING she gets.

But I'm glad to see you restrained your anger toward her in the rest of your post.

I agree with everything you posted, the woman is evil. I've always listed Ann Coulter as Female Enemy to the People #1, (although I recognize the "female" part is up for debate), and Harris following close behind at #2, but now I'm inclined to think they both tie for #1.

Evil, evil, evil.

Ugly, ugly, ugly.

"C" word, "C" word, "C" word.

32. In spite of this...
Prominent Republicans continue to back her campaign. DENIAL DENIAL DENIAL

"Katherine Harris is going to make a great U.S. senator," U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez, R-Fla., said in video greeting to the Manatee County Republican Party last week.

Also in Manatee County, Florida Republican Party Chairman Carol Jean Jordan called Harris the hardest-working campaigner she knows and said she would beat Sen. Bill Nelson, a Democrat, in November.

Even U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole, R-N.C., who has been cool to Harris' candidacy, invited Harris to a weekly Republican caucus meeting, usually reserved only for Republican senators. The next day, Harris attended a Washington fundraiser.

"It says the Republican leadership has accepted the political reality that Katherine Harris will be the GOP candidate for the United States Senate," said Larry Sabato, director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia.

:puke: Katherine Harris :puke:

36. Eliz Dole avoided commenting on a Harris endorsement

as recently as a month and a half ago.

Link: http://hotlineblog.nationaljournal.com/archives/2006/01/dole_on_the_sen.html

She hinted that the NRSC was still open to another GOP candidate in Florida. The party twice failed to persuade Rep. Katherine Harris to quit, and Dole would not say whether Harris today is supported by the committee.

"We are not actively recruiting," said Dole of the FL race. A reporter asked if that meant the NRSC was "behind" Harris. Said Dole: "She is working very hard. She is passionate about this. She is trying to raise the money that's needed She's a good candidate and that's where I'm going to leave it right now."

Clearly Harris is an embarrassment to the goppers. They all wish she would just go away. Somewhat like a quirky relative. The family doesn't wish them any harm but they all wish they would go annoy someone else.
