No More Throw-Away People!
OK folks, as soon as we boot the Rethugs and begin to restructure our guvmint and society to heal the wounds of these last five years... let us all take deep to heart the Co-Production Imperative. If you don't know what i'm talking about, please read the book No More Throw-Away People by Edgar Cahn. This is what will save our society! While you're at it, check out The Unsettling of America by Wendell Berry and In the Absence of the Sacred by Jerry Mander... maybe even Gaviotas by Alan Weisman for some inspiration. These are far reaching ideas and analyses for why we have gone wrong as a society and how we can fix things... but they offer advice on non-market strategies built over time and trust.

Goddess bless our local libraries!

1. I don't know if that will work
The non-market strategies built on trust, I mean. For one thing most people are lying backstabbing bastards, or at least such has been my experience. So I don't tend to trust them.

2. Really? I've found the opposite
in that people will be as honest as you expect them to be, as long as they're not sociopaths. That covers at least 95% of us.

Management loves sociopaths, though, so if you're talking about office or corporate politics, I can easily see where you're coming from.

3. non-market
The non-market economy has always been there... it has always worked more efficiently than any other type of market. Money as a medium of exchange has numerous flaws, it needs very much a recognized and applicable foundation. The non-market economy has always served this function. Remove the incentive for people to be lying backstabbing bastards... then you have revolution. I'm talking about people focusing on positive redirection here. This is the first time i've read a book in a while that has OFFERED SOLUTIONS. Please, check it out at your library or your locally owned bookstore. Especially Chapter 7: The Dark Side of the Force- the external costs of money.

Trust is built, not instantaneous.
