2. It is now "the long war" .....
.... or as I call it the "wrong war."

From 12/7/1941 to 8/??/45 longer then

9/11/01 to 3/6/06 and bin Laden still walks free, Iraq has become a breeding ground to
terrorists, and they want to talk about security? Screw 'em. Please Rove run on
security and terrorism because on that you fat pig you and your crew of election stealing
bastards have failed.

6. Still no end in sight
Edited on Sun Mar-05-06 10:44 PM by Lone_Star_Dem
Imagine how it must be for the people of Iraq. They've been living under a foreign occupation, without many (most?) of the basic needs they had before we "liberated" them. They are in constant fear of their lives and they are all but powerless to change things. Many of their homes have been destroyed and for all the money we're spending there they'll never be rebuilt. They don't know from one day to the next what other horrors they may have to endure.

7. The Problem Is Not That There Is No End In Sight
The problem is that there is no goal in sight. We will never know how to get out of there until we figure out why we are there in the first place.

10. 3 weeks - 3 decades. You know how * mispeaks. I think you're getting
picky. Everythings going so well there, you should not be upset. What's $2 billion a weeks among taxpayers. or even 2300 soldiers. We can always instate the draft. As for the Iraqis - I figure somewhere around 150,000.

13. remember Vietnam dragged on for 10 YEARS before people brought it..
...to a grinding halt.
...people have to get wise before that kind of time passes, or the names of our dead will fill up another black stone obelisk in Washington D.C.

14. Whenever I read a thread like this
Whenever I read a thread like this I wonder when we're going to stop taking up this pointless dialectic about why we're in Iraq or what our "goals" are. It should seem obvious by now that despite the unthinkable, ever-widening destruction and conflict IS the goal. The discourse should begin from there IMO.

Only blood, death, and pain. Just like in another country far away and long ago.

18. 2 and a fair bit year ago I said to a Yankish friend
"Well, the uh, 'fine people of the Republican party' are going to try and blame the left for it if the war goes foul in the minds of even the nutter repukes.. ie. goes on and on, lots of American dead, they will try and blame it on you, and all the other Liberals. Agreed? (Yes)." That might really start soon.. my tip is guess what tack they'll use before they use it, and think up good counter arguments.

In fact, it might be an idea to start up a DU Database of good talking points, for both present and probable RW taunts...

Whatcha think people? I'm willing to pitch in!

19. Good Reminder...On March 19th....
There will be events and demonstrations all over the nation. I n Tacoma, Washingto there is a whole days set of events planned from 130PM. There will be a march on the hilltop (economically depressed area) a rally at People's Park, and then a potluck at First United Methodist Church. At 530 teh "Women in Black" will have a silent vigil to be followed with an Inter-Faith worship service called "Many Faiths-One Hope"

Please find out what is happening in your city and if there isn't anything yet, start something! Even a silent candle light vigil of 2 or 3 is a witness to the rest of the nation.

Thank you-Mike C

26. Don't forget, it actually started in 1991.
A lot of Americans are only concerened with the deaths of American soldiers. We forget how many Iraqi people were killed by the sanctions imposed in the 90's.

My RW from hell brother's attitiude when I bring that up, is: So? They are free to leave, it's their own fault. :eyes:

Someday I'm gonna get a blood test...
