http://www.delawareonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060305/OPINION10/603050322/1111/OPINION

What leaders do on their own time is a private matter

Because I am 17 years old, some people might say that I am not mature enough to understand many issues. However, let me just say that I get more laughs reading the opinion page than I ever have from the comics.

Delawareans seem to be fixated on bashing President Bush and proposing new conspiracy theories whenever they seem convenient.

President Bush did not cause Hurricane Katrina or the complications afterwards. New Orleans was built below sea level so they should have seen it coming and made preparations themselves.

If Dick Cheney shoots someone by accident on his own time, it is none of your business and neither he nor the president has any obligation to tell you about it.

Finally, it seems unreasonable to me that Bush was able to graduate from Yale University, be elected governor of Texas, and earn the respect and confidence of enough of his peers in the Republican Party to be nominated as their presidential candidate if he is indeed as dim-witted as you say.

I am willing to wager that the majority of Delawareans who get their information from this sorry excuse for a newspaper have barely enough brainpower to govern their own lives, let alone governing a nation of almost 300 million.

xxxxxxxxx, Hockessin

++++++++++++++++++++

MY GOD!!! If Dick Cheney shoots a man by accident on his own time it's none of our business? If any other citizen in this country shoots someone, even if by accident, you better believe it become our business because the authorities will be notified as soon as that shooting victim gets to the hospital.

Of course on the other hand, if a man gets a blowjob from someone other than his wife that SHOULDN'T be our business but our tax dollars paid $70million to make it our business.

13. You have a link for that
Not because I doubt you - hell, I pretty much knew that was an upper-middle class neighborhood, but it would be handy to see what other neighborhoods are like. My assumption is that's not for Delaware but around the country

8. most people don't understand the office of Texas Governor-
everyone thinks that the governor of texas is just like the governor of their own state- it's not.
the lieutenant governor actually has more powers/duties than the actual governor, iirc...

12. Hmmm...
"Of course on the other hand, if a man gets a blowjob from someone other than his wife that SHOULDN'T be our business but our tax dollars paid $70million to make it our business."

Good point. When I was in high school, most 17 year olds who claimed to be well-informed were far from it. Oftentimes they relied on the so-called "sorry excuse" for a media and the slanted view of their parents to dictate what they "believed" in. This is just another prime example of a misled youth. I'm not worried about him being a conservative, the kid has his right to follow whichever path he chooses, I'm just scared that this kid has been brainwashed at such a young age that he may never recover.

Crime Family has time on his hands and is masquerading as a kid online. If that did come from a 17-year-old, he had help from a parent with ties to the chimp.

24. Bush must be smart because he went to Yale?
Give me a break! I went to a midwestern university-maybe not on Yale level, but one of the top 50 universities in the country. And when I was 17, a freshman, I saw quite a few rich fools playing away their college days. Of course, I was only there because of a scholarship, so I took my education more seriously than some did. This kid must never have spent any time around a college campus, especially fraternity row. My grandmother had an apartment house in the middle of the frats, and the wild behavior she saw would make Animal House look tame.

28. i think the remark about new orleans is even worse
New Orleans was built below sea level so they should have seen it coming and made preparations themselves.

Who is "they"? We're raising a generation who, thanks to evangelical Christian theology and evangelical Reagan economics, think your responsibilities to other human beings stop at your own front door.

29. This reminded me of another lie - the 1999-2000 lie about Gore - that
he had to drop out of college.

Gore writes papers and books that scientists praise and can give moving speeches without prompting technology.

And then there is George. Well, George is our bumbling, stumbling, mumbling, stuttering, embarassing Harvard MBA who must have 'unlearned' a lot along the way.

31. Calling your compatriots morans and insulting the press in their own forum
Way to make friends and influence people, young Republican!

I encourage you to write letters like this in every swing state newspaper so that average, hardworking Americans with "barely enough brainpower to govern their own lives" can be exposed to the far right wing's point of view :sarcasm:

Hey, wait a minute... Democracy is government by the people. Technically, we are all responsible for our own country's governance. But you say we don't have the brain power for it. Isn't that an anti-democratic stance?

Here, I've got something for you. You can probably use this better than I can:

They live in OUR housing. We transport their butts everywhere they go and guard their asses while they are there.

If they didn't have SS with them all the time, then that could be "their time". As long as I am paying to guard his ass 24/7, he's on MY time.
