I'm not sure I can vote for Hillary Clinton.
One of the times in my voting years I didn't vote for a Democrat was 1980. I voted for Barry Commoner. I'm sorry.
In 1996 I voted for Ralph Nader because Bill Clinton didn't need my vote. I remember that that year Bob Dole used the phrase 'Democratic wars' in one of the debates. Pathetic and funny.
I don't know...talk to me...

to unify their constituents, and perpetuated by the MSM

3. I am with you. She ain't shown me much
since becoming Senator-celebretity.

I hate to side with the wingnuts here in NY, but I fear they were right.

Of course, oddly enough, lots of them side with me now and say I was right about Bush, so I guess that's fair.

4. I would not be enthusiatic about voting
for Senator Clinton, but would do so without hesitation. I don't think I have to explain why.

I had forgotten about Barry Commoner. I cast my first vote for pres for him, although for the life of me I can't remember anything about him. I remember sitting at the LSU Union feeling guilt and depression as I watched almost everyone there cheering as Reagan was announced the winner.

35. Barry was champion of the environment.
Like many third party candidates, he didn't get far but influenced the subsequent debate.

Hillary is my last choice for the democratic nomination, but I would still vote for her. We can't continue to let republicans win.

7. I am afraid of who a President Jebbie Bush or Billie Frist
would put on the Supreme Court ----

<>

Berkeley Law Professor John C. Yoo. Professor Yoo he served as a deputy assistant attorney general in the Office of Legal Counsel of the U.S. Department of Justice from 2001 to 2003 where he worked on issues involving foreign affairs, national security, and the separation of powers and gave us the "unitary presidency" and the torture memos.

Besides - in 1968 I voted for Hubert Humphrey against Nixon, and in 2000 I voted for Al Gore and against Ralph Nader and Bushie. And if I still lived in Pennsylvania, I would vote for Bob Casey and against Rick Santorum (cause I want the Dems to organize the Senate).

9. Hillary is an ugly stain on the Democratic Party.
Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 12:29 AM by BuyingThyme

Put her next to somebody like Barbara Boxer and you quickly find that she's a dim bulb with absolutely no personality and no true values. From Yale, to being a neo-con tool, to this absurd anointment as a presidential candidate, she's our very own Chimpy -- without the Nazi thing, of course.

12. Oh, if I lived in NY, I could vote her into the Senate, she's not that bad
However, I won't vote for her in the prmary and, if she gets the nomination, I won't vote for her in the general election.

I won't vote for any conservative for the top office.

Conservatives may represent individual constituencies well. We've had enough lost elections when they run for the top executive job.

In a country this big we should have more of a choice than Bush or Clinton. We need someone not tainted by this Iraq war.

19. I find it very amusing
to see people actually accuse Hillary of being a Republican, yet they never show any evidence. I suppose they just don't like her, and they believe if they just say it over and over again it will become true. Sorry fellas, but not having a 100% liberal voting record does not make one a Republican. You should note, though, she has one of the more liberal voting records in the senate.

21. Hillary's Voting Record / Scorecard - ;-)
Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 08:34 AM by WePurrsevere
I don't agree with every vote she casts and even disagree with her on a few issues HOWEVER I also know that what is said is not always what is true so I went looking for an easy way to compare Hillary to others currently in office. (For those who have never held an office where their stance on issues is clear and backed up by actions all I can do is take them at their word and hope they'll walk the walk once in office.)

Anyway.... here's a couple of "Progressive" orgs scorecards/ratings on voting records I found while looking for info on Hillary being a DINO or not. Although they're what I would consider rather "subjective" depending on where they're coming from, when I played around and checked records of a variety they seem decent. Try comparing Hillary with Kerry, Kennedy or other potential Pres. candidates that are currently working as our representatives in DC: The Peace Majority's Ratings - Progressive Punch's Scorecard

Although I've found I like her more as a Senator then I thought I would, I don't think she'll run in '08 (although I also wouldn't be terribly surprised if she does). If she did run and got the nomination (which I don't think she would since the "Swift boaters" have done their job so well) I'd probably vote for her. Since I don't know who else will be running I'm not sure about the Primary... I'll decide on that when I hear what those actually running have to say. :)

I also agree with you about "not having 100% Liberal voting record" heck even Ted Kennedy, probably one of the more "Liberal" politicians in office doesn't vote 100% Liberal enough for some. Besides not all DUers are 100% what some consider to be "Liberal" either. From what I can see there's a very eclectic mix of Dems here (as well as some Libertarians and Greenies)... it's just that some folks seem to be more outspoken and zealous then others. B-)

edited because I forgot to use spell checker. :hangover:

on the "Progressive peace" site, and I can't find an explanation of what the numbers mean.

Can you enlighten me? Thanks.

33. I think they're percentages of how often a person votes the way either
the Progressive or Peace group would want them to. The higher the score the more often they vote on issues the way "Progressives" or "Peace Majority" would want them to. Look up Edward Kennedy (D MA) and compare him to Tom Delay (R Tx). The way I figured out the basic gist was by looking up a few different reps that I was fairly sure would be very different (Liberal vs Neo-Con) and seeing how they scored.

As I said this is probably a rather subjective way to exam a person's record (unfortunately I haven't had time to search the site for the formula they use) but using two or more of these type sites does seem to give a fair although simplified picture of how a representative is voting along the progressive line.

I apologize if I'm not being perfectly clear. It's been a long day, I'm over tired and my MS tends to create a touch of brain fog then.

It's just a tad frustrating to look at a site like this and not be able to find a clear explanation of their rating system, though you're right, you can figure out some rhyme or reason by comparing the different politicians.

I'm sorry to hear you have MS.

20. I'm Sure!!! (that I can't)
You think it was tough fighting how the GOP defined Kerry?

Hillary positioned herself as the donkey version of Dumbo (the flying elephant).

She failed to challenge Bush early on -- she has little credibility. Ironically, she will be judged by all voters for being politically calculating (not to mention being characterized by the RW as "angry & brittle").

New blood is needed in '08. The only thing that can help the PNAC cabal in '08 is a Hillary candidacy -- That's exactly why Rove called her out! Given Bush's woes -- the only way the GOP can win in '08 is to run against Hillary!!!

Where it comes to Hillary -- "Just say no."

23. I would vote and work for her BUT...
I can't fake enthusiasm. I can't will myself to care nearly as much as I would if it were Clark or Feingold or even Gore. And that means I won't work as hard for Clinton. Not because I would be holding back intentionally, but because I won't be as compelled to dig as deep, to lose as much sleep, to talk about the race with everyone I meet. I can't fake that type of enthusiasm. But our Democracy can not afford another Republican President at this point in our history, at least not until the Republican Party has purged itself of the crowd who control it now, and only their defeat can help make that happen Republicans have to be cast into the political wilderness of non incumbency, and if that means working for Hillary IF she gets the nomination, I'll do my best under the circumstances. But I'm afraid we could lose with Hillary, she is not who I would choose as our next President, and I will work against her in the primaries, including in New York.
