heard on MSNBC--Bush uses a double overseas
He secretly flew in on a small executive jet today, while a secret service agent who looks like him flew in on Air Force One. Is this commonly done?

This is how bad it is, people. Universally hated President. At least 150,000 Indian citizens thought it worth their while to protest his visit

41. *shouts with laughter* Thanks for the link!
That was a laugh at the end of a rotten day!

The horses: Mine, the "young one"(20) is fine, thank God. The older one (23, my SO's) has grave problems with his teeth and with some kind of furuncle under the chin, cannot eat too well. But after I was afraid he'd die he's still going strong; eats now, though with difficulty, and is galloping and buckling with all the cold weather now - vet says we shouldn't do anything right now and wait some time. Then the big tooth operation.

And how is your sweetie?

Edited on Fri Mar-03-06 05:07 PM by CottonBear
Are you feeding your older horse a mash or wet food? I hope he can have his tooth operation soon. Cotton had her wolf teeth pulled this past summer. The surgery didn't hurt her at all but I felt bad for her. She looked do pitiful with her head tied up and that big dental speculum holing her mouth open. Poor baby. :(

My Cotton filly is fine and growing big and strng. I am going to leave work soon and go and feed her and her 20 other equine friends and relatives. The weather will be sunny tomorrow so we can do some training. I am going to work her on the long line and have her walk and trot over poles on the ground. :)

Give your horses a kiss on the nose from me and Cotton! :) :hi:

edit: I'm glad I made you laugh! That picture made me laugh too!

46. Yes, Adonis gets all his food soaked. I'm so very thankful
that he can even eat some hay (if not as much or as fast as he'd want to). I know how pitiful they look with meds and the dental speculum. I'm a brave woman really - but last time the vet did this to the "young one" I left the stable, told my SO to take care of it. Can't stand to see it (of course I would if nobody else were around, but I really hate to see the sight, poor babies).

You feed 20? Are you at a place where people share the work for all horses? That sounds great. - No work better than "ground work" as we call it, those poles etc. It's good in every respect, they learn so much doing that! (And so do the humans involved :)).

Now make sure you scratch Cotton's shoulder for us! ;)

In amswer to your question, Cotton lives on the breeding farmwhere she was born! My friends, a retired couple, own the farm and all of the horses except for Cotton (I bought her from them.) I help them feed the horses and they have a couple of other people who help them do farm chores. All 21 of them are fed grain and hay twice each day! We have a system and a plan. Feeding, haying, filling up water tubs and cleaning stalls takes about 2 1/2 hours in the morning and 2 1/2 hours at night.

:) I love being outside with them and in the warm barn after a long day in my office!

49. I know just how you feel :)
I don't work anymore (invalid) but as soon as I see the horses I smile no matter how bad I might have felt before. The work in the morning (getting out the manure and feeding) takes 1 hour, in the evening (again manure and food) maybe 20 minutes. But then they are really snug and comfortable! (Yes, I know others don't take as much time. Before I bought Tignous I worked on a stud farm to get experience and fed and cleaned 30 almost in the same time I need for our two now... but then I was a healthy person and... well... now it's my own place and I want it perfect or at least as perfect as I can.)

Sometimes - very sometimes like maybe twice a year, not more often - I think this has gotten to be too much, I can't handle it anymore - like to-day with those sudden loads of snow in Southern Germany. Electrical wire buried in the snow; battery empty, need to be changed (no electricity, heat, automatic water and the like) - but then I look at those two fellas and melt. I mean my heart melts. I know you know what I mean :)

And now I'm going to bed. Best wishes to you, horse person!
:hi:

Clinton did it when he swooped in to Pakistan, too. He had the SS guy who had good hair, like he does, go on AF1, and he slid in on an executive jet.

I can't stand the Monkey, but there is NO WAY you can go there on the up-and-up in the current environment, as the Paki military is infested with Talibanistas and insane friken fundies. You can't trust them at all. If Pervez goes, all hell will break loose, unless he finds a way to consolidate power with a strong, trusted bunch (and then, ya got the infighting there, too...). And he has already done a purge or two, but they're EVERYWHERE....

...and also assuming that he gives a crap what the world thinks. I'd think psychological survival would have long since convinced him to shrug off any suggestion of criticism or dissent. Shit, if God talked to me personally, I wouldn't worry too much about what the rest of the world thought either. If God told me to invade Iraq, suspend the Bill of Rights, and cut taxes for all the Predestined Elect, I'd do it.
