Showed My Father-In-Law, A Veteran, Very EX-repug, F-911 Tonight
He said that "every American should see this movie." He has a friend, a die-hard repug, Marine, bu$h-lovin, hopeless case. They are both 76 years old. Dad-in-law said "Hey, I'd like to send a copy to "Fred" (repug hopeless case friend). He said, "I don't think he'll look at it, but maybe if it's mailed from somewhere else, with no return address, and not labeled, or mis-labeled (deliberately), he'll see a minute or two of it, and that would be worth it." My dear father-in-law wants to go to D.C. and raise hell, so to speak. He said he'd probably get arrested within an hour. He particularly liked the scene where Moore and the Iraq War veteran tried to get member of Congress to enlist their children to go to Iraq. He said, "Boy, that Moore sure has balls," and I told him I agreed with him. He also was so disgusted by how bu$h has hurt veterans and their families, he was pretty much in shock. Dad is so disgusted with bu$h - this movie upset him a lot. But he is glad he saw it, and he does want to show it to others. He lives in Wisconsin, and he and his wife go to Arizona for 6 months in the winter. He's staying with us temporarily as he looks for a home, and takes care of some doctor stuff. He and mom-in-law sold their house a little quicker than they anticipated, so he is back here for a month trying to find something. Anyway, it was a special time, watching this great movie with him. I recommend you all re-visit this movie. It'll well be worth it.

He claims that I turned him into a Democrat, but actually, he did it all on his own. I was just there to congratulate and support him. I love him a lot.:patriot: :loveya:

3. In these times of so many stories of family estrangements due to politics,
your story was a nice gift to all of us who have been trying to make friends and influence people. Thank you so very much for telling us about it.

Lesson to some around here: Everyone who doesn't agree with you right away is hopeless. Try some gentle teaching and resources. Sometimes it pays off big time.

..... that I was putting your Dad down cause I wasn't.:loveya: I was referring to ALL die-hard rethugs that are only turning on Bush because it's fashionable, rather than because of new truths they discovered. See the difference?? :pals:

11. Interesting but I don't buy the CD theory. The film raises more
questions than it anwers. Maybe this should be moved to the 9/11 forum...

17. But that is the point
Everyone I know on the other side always start Moore-bashing when this movie comes up.

I tend to respond that nobody ever answered any of the questions he brought up about how this admin and most everyone in it has been in bed with the Saudis and the bin Ladens for a couple of decades now, and nobody seems to care.

It is difficult, because they don't want to address any of the issues that Moore brings up in the piece. Typically, they just want to shoot the messenger.

It's like that scene in Braveheart when the Irishman comes in to camp and they start hasseling him. He blurts out, "Screw that, answer the fucking question!" or something to that effect. That's all I want from the Bushista's. Just answer the fucking questions.

8. IMHO
Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 09:52 PM by JWS
F-911 doesn't do much to convince non-believers in Bush's failure. Generally, Republicans watch it, get offended, and start pointing out that Moore is biased. It's too bad that people don't stop and think about what the film says before the partisan shields start going up.

*sigh*

And it does suck how Bush is hurting veterans, especially with another cut in veteran's healthcare planned to finance his idiotic tax cuts.

29. They use the charges of bias to distract from the fact that everything
in it is true.

Once you know the facts in the movie, how can you help but be biased?

38. That's the reason the MSM has to be "fair and balanced"
If they say anything that indicts the Right, without at they same to indicting the left people begin shouting bias.

i.e. when the katrina video of Bush looking like an idiot came out, the MSM immediately had to come out with a story spreading the blame a little to try and make Democrats look just as stupid.

10. As I have written here before, I have a friend that is a
Vietnam vet and a life long republican until 2000 which was the first time he voted democratic in a presidential race. After a couple of years of Bush-co and the republicans in control of congress, he switched his party affiliation to Democrat.
He hates bush-co and the repug with a passion. He say that he probably had all the anger penned up and bush was the final straw.

30. Right, the "Dude There's More to the Story!" movie

pdf here: http://digitalstyledesigns.com/pdf%20files/moore_halfsheet_bw.pdf

Why The Pet Goat in the middle of an aerial attack?
Why no air defense?
Who did the trades on stocks of United and American Airlines?
Why did CIA agent Larry Mitchell meet with Osama in Dubai six weeks before 9/11?
Why did the head of Pakistani intelligence wire $100k to Mohammed Atta weeks before
9/11, and why did he meet with Senator Bob Graham and Rep. Porter Goss the morning
of 9/11?
Why did Building 7 collapse when it was not hit by an airplane?

The 64KB bitrate downloads are big but doable for dial-up (over a couple days ;) )

Or you could watch the streaming versions for dial-up.

26. Your story made me feel really happy.
I love anecdotes like this. I wish something like it would happen in my family. It possibly could with my dad if he weren't so afraid of my liberal-hating RW stepmother's fundie, foaming-at-the-mouth bad temper. My dad, unfortunately, gave up having opinions of his own just to keep peace at home.

Your father-in-law sounds like a good man.

Edited on Fri Mar-03-06 12:57 PM by Kurovski
The die-hard, hopeless Freep-jobbers are the minority.

We should all try to remember that reality is being shifted these days. Patience is important.

The Right-Wing has spent over thirty years and billions of dollars to create false perceptions in millions of truly decent, honest and trusting Americans. Those perceptions are being shattered before their very eyes.

Your father-in-law totally rocks!

My guess is some may have written her by sending it to Michael Moore's production company.

But others may know of a more direct way of contacting her.
