Why?
I am feeling down right now. I have been wrestling with these questions for a while and I haven't come up with any decent answers. Maybe you guys can help me.

1) Why are people still defending this administration at this point?
2) Why do people question your patriotism when you want to save soldiers lives?
3) Why do people question your faith when you put human lives over the beloved embryo?
4) Why must I live with a crippling neurological disease when stem cell research could be a cure all?
5) Why must I suffer for the religious beliefs of others?
6} Why do others put me down for wanting said cure?
7} Why do people think that George Bush is a good Christan?
8) Why do Republicans want to take away my disability check? Or at least why do they want to make me guilty for receiving one?
9) Why did anyone vote against/ or not for John Kerry when he wanted affordable health care, and would've put decent judges on the supreme court?
10) why can't I get out of my funky mood?

I am sorry for being such a wet blanket tonight. I have been fighting with Bush's religious base all day long and I am a little burnt out by it. Their the meanest pack of wolves that I have ever seen. I am sure I'll feel better tomorrow.

3. Reading the title of your post...
Made me think of these lyrics by rapper Jadakiss:

Why would n... push pounds and powder
Why did bush knock down the towers
Why you around them cowards
Why Aaliyah have to take that flight
Why my n... D ain't pull out his Ferrari
Why he take that bike
Why they gotta open your package and read your mail

4. I can't help you with your mood. I will say this:
1) Why are people still defending this administration at this point?
In my opinion this administration has rpoven itself to be nothing but criminals. Anyone who is supporting them is also therefore a criminal.

6. Because to think otherwise would shatter them
they are in a bubble of denial and rush limbaugh faux news
illusions of "everybody's out to get me" propaganda .

I pity them , they are suckers who have been duped .
No matter my attempts to help them see the truth
with there own eyes instead of having the ditto faux
filter , they think it is I who has an agenda that
harms them .

Rush Limbaugh's laughs at his listeners while
smoking Cuban cigars in Elite hotels in France .

Hang in there DanCa

9. I’m sorry Dan
And I have no answer to those questions other than people tend to do what’s easy rather than what’s right. It’s easier for them to believe a lie than admit they were wrong and it’s easier for them to hate what is different from them than to understand and at least tolerate what is different from them.

My thoughts are with you.

11. Sorry Dan. I'm with you. We need to fight.
You're one of my favorite DUers and I don't want you to feel bad. I think many people are in a deep depression. For very good reason. What we're living in is kind of like a cross between a crony dictatorship and a fairly lenient theocracy. What I find most maddening is the tone of reasonableness in these unreasonable times. For instance, when people say "I support stem cell research, but people have a right to their beliefs... so if the majority of Americans want to ban stem cell research we need to listen to their voice.." I get upset. It sounds very rational. But in real terms, it comes down to DanCa can't get treatment for his debilitating illness because politicians feel the need to pander to irrational ideologues. Another example is when Kerry discussed the fact that Mary Cheney is a lesbian. Mary Cheney IS a lesbian; she is an "out" lesbian; she has worked for gay and lesbian organizations in the past. But Lynn Cheney huffed and hawed about how Kerry's comments were vicious and rude. These days, speaking simple truths is considered extreme behavior.

Another example of this is this attempt at a dialogue between pro-lifers and pro-choicers. It is fairly absurd. No middle ground will ever be reached. That's hard to say these days, but it must be said.

On many issues, no middle ground can be reached. And that's not a problem. I keep hearing "gosh, we live in such a polarized society." Polarization is not the issue. The issue is that 40% of Americans have lost their everloving minds. Nazi Germany was hardly a polarized society. The USSR wasn't too polarized either. In my opinion, we need to stop trying to reach across the aisle, unless it's to smack some sense into these fools.

--You can't have intelligent design in science class. End of story.
--We are doing stem cell research. End of story.
--The states must legally recognize the marriages of gays and lesbians. End of story.
--Women will have the right to choose abortion whenever they and their doctors decide. End of story.
--Schools need funding. End of story.
--We have no business in Iraq. End of story.
--Election fraud is unacceptable and we will uprise if necessary. End of story.

End of story. End of story. End of story. Period. Lines drawn in sand. We're dealing with extremists. WE ARE THE MIDDLE GROUND.

Funny note. I'm in the middle of a labor strike. 112 days. All of the scabs (95% of whom are liberal, by the way) have constantly said, "I don't want to cross the picket line, but I don't want to strike because that will make my employer mad at me. There must be a third way." But there is no third way. Excuse my language, but there is no goddamn third way. You are either crossing a picket line or you are not crossing a picket line.

We need to get hardened-- fast. We need to get used to having to take uncomfortable stands-- fast. You cannot reason or talk yourself out of a rape. Both sides do not "have a point" when one side is violating the other side's basic human rights. You fight your way out of the assault any way you can.

12. Thanks. Like you my biggest problem is the religious morality play.
Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 01:23 AM by DanCa
I mean how dare they threaten to keep disabled people out of their church for purely political reasons. I have been doing a lot of lobbying lately and it never ceases to amazes me that the first words out of their mouths are "Do you go to church?" Of course I do but I believe that if I broke my arm god would want it healed. I also believe that I have no right to force my religious beliefs on others.

I agree with you about taking on the right wing phonies head on. I am not talking about the good christian people on this page but the shills of the right ring. We cannot maintain our silence any longer. There is no "Superman" that will fly out of the sky and save us. The only way to be free of these imbeciles is to adapt their tactics and fight fire with fire. It sickens me to say that but the truth is if you bloody a bullies nose once he will back down. I wonder what would happen if we hand linked outside of their churches one sunday morning in a show of unity an hour before mass? Hey if they can scare rape victims from going to planned parent hood I say we give them something to really think about. In angry left willing to confront them. I would love to see the BIshops face who said I was a toddler killer than.

Thank you Readmoreoften, your one of my favorite DU'ers as well. Good luck on your labor strike. Please pm me if you need me anything.
