New Poll Shows Bush Approval at 34%
Edited on Tue Feb-28-06 08:25 AM by dogday
Just heard on ABC...... How much lower will it go?

The latest CBS News poll finds President Bush's approval rating has fallen to an all-time low of 34 percent, while pessimism about the Iraq war has risen to a new high.

Americans are also overwhelmingly opposed to the Bush-backed deal giving a Dubai-owned company operational control over six major U.S. ports. Seven in 10 Americans, including 58 percent of Republicans, say they're opposed to the agreement <...>

For the first time in this poll, most Americans say the president does not care much about people like themselves. Fifty-one percent now think he doesn't care, compared to 47 percent last fall.

Just 30 percent approve of how Mr. Bush is handling the Iraq war, another all-time low.

3. My thoughts exactly...
I mean I'm from the UK and even I can see that the majority of Americans are getting f****d by this administration. How can you approve of something which is so demonstrably and blatantly against your interests??

6. Because...
...conservatives hate us liberals so much that the neocons can easily control them. And it frustrates me to no end. I wish they would see that the neocons are more of a threat than we are, but they are too stupid, I guess.

12. And let me add to what tismith said --
because I have some relatives that think exactly like that, they hate liberals and Democrats so much, they will accept anything from the Republicans.

It is amazing to see what happens when you talk to them. They will agree with reason at first and say that the Bush administration is bad, but the next time you talk to them, they will have gone right back to their original positions and say they love everything that Bush does. They listen to Fox News and Limbaugh, O'Reilly and Hannity and the other right-wing talk radio shows all day long. So their emotions always seem to get manipulated right back to where the Republicans want them.

They will keep voting Republican no matter what happens. I don't know why they are so easily manipulated. They have comfortable lives and are not religious fanatics. They are just so tribal and brainwashed and can't stand the thought of supporting Democrats because they think Republicans are somehow superior. We have stopped discussing politics with them because it is just too frustrating, like banging your head against the wall.

13. I listened to the AM dial the other day...
I only listen to radio when I'm in the car, but the other day our power was out so I turned on the radio for AM stations and information. I was able to tune in four stations; on two stations, Limbaugh was on. The third station was country-western music and the fourth station was Christian rock. And I live in NH. I can just imagine how bad radio is in other states. Let's face it; the neocons control the most popular forms of media in this country. They control what many of us think.

10. Even the most entrenched wing nuts I encounter are PISSED about
the ports deal. I guess that old quote really is true: He may be an insane greedy demagogue, but he's our insane greedy demagogue.

4. How Can Repuke Congressmen Keep Supporting Him??
Looks like Dubai is gonna fly, and STILL HE IS THE KING!!

As Jon Stewart said last night on Larry King... "when are the people EVER going to wake up?" He also seemed to be RESIGNED to the chaos because it just keeps going on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on!

I'm ready for some action, but have no real outlet OTHER THAN MY MOUTH!!

Actually there sseems to be a growing Christian far-right movement which is 100% opposed to Bush. Of course, their solution's not very pretty...

11. It's amazing it is that high
There are people out there that still don't give a shit about the laws or the future of this country and will blindly follow georgie and the gang because they refuse to think for themselves.

I can't wrap my brain around the fact that *anyone* would think this guy is doing any good at all. Even if you were for the invasion of Iraq, it is common knowledge that the whole operation was poorly decided and planned.

16. Then get rid of those pollsters!!! Who allowed these polls in the
first place? No one believes them anyway. We don't listen to polls. We don't need no steenkin' polls.

17. I can just imagine blivet staggering around the halls of
the white house in the middle of the night with his half empty bottle of Jim Beam, screaming at the pictures on the wall, and cursing his daddy, counting the days till he can disappear.
