In this "ethnic/faith" conscious time we live in, I catch myself wondering if part of our credibility problem is the fact that so many people who report the news, analyze the news, and propagandize the news arfe so blatant in their support of "a" over "b".

There used to be a time when only people in the US saw our news programs, and there were no DVRs, VCRs, pod-casts, blackberries, internet(s), so something said, was viewed, and then it was just gone.

News people back then tended to just tell us what happened, and opinion shows were "labeled" as just that.

The nasty little hybrid we have going now is likely to create more trouble than it solves. I have been making notes as I watch and what I see is kind of disturbing, to say the least..

Arab stuff in the news..James Zogby gets invited on air..his counterpart may not be jewish, but has a "jewish name"..

Hannity brags about being Catholic, so does O'Reilly, so does Matthews.

Our "broadcasts" are seen worldwide and in places that are REALLY partisan with a capital P, this is sending a very skewed message..

Our news is not just for US anymore, and the faux outrages that we may "get", others watching from around the world, might NOT !

2. Cronkite Is No Friend Of King george
I believe he has been critical of this mis-administration.

But I get your point. When he was on the air, he was unbiased and impartial. Not so for today's right wing talking heads.

3. He loathes the little twit..
My point is that when someone is seen as NOT having an agenda, we can believe what they tell us.. When we percieve them as partisan, everything they say is suspect..

5. Exactly.
What passes for journalism blows my mind.

Huntley, Brinkley, and Cronkite may have been talking heads, and they may not have had perfect hair.

But . . . they weren't full of shit, like these current fools.

6. Nor cared
There really was a "good old days." Until the hate spread across the land by those calling themselves conservatives infected our lives like a deadly virus. I know I have pissed many off here railing against "conservatives" but I don't give a flying dog fuck. Pissing off some who are offended by a negative characterization pales in comparison to raping our constitution. Please "conservatives" step up and chastise me for my hatefulness.

7. and when religion or faith was mentioned, it was a
generic sort of faith, since we assumed that everyone "believed" in something, and to make them think the story was meaningful to them it made sense to NOT make it speciifc and exclusionary..

Niche journalism is gonna get us all killed :scared:
