Clarke, Brzezinski, Hart, Nunn --Security brains must be heard on Ports
Edited on Mon Feb-27-06 02:21 PM by NoMercy
Democrats need to put forward a phalanx of credible National Security leaders
-- the likes of Richard Clarke, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Gary Hart, Sam Nunn --
to attack the port security issue and investigate the Dubai deal with incisiveness, rather that continue to be caught up in the demagoguery of the likes Frank Gafney and Michelle Malkin.

Otherwise, the republicans are going to end-up manipulating the Dubai Deal political disaster into some perverse electoral advantage.

Right now many democrats sound more like braying minics rather than serious policy leaders.

Remember, the objective is to be strong and credible against the Republican congress, not to attack Bush -- who is not up for re-election.

5. Very serious-minded, non-political, and suported Bush iraq at first
until he realized the intelligence was bogus. He is credible to independents.

6. He wrote the preamble to "The Crisis of Democracy" a well known
diatribe on how we have "too much" democracy in written in the mid 70's. It is a blueprint that has served as the guide on centralizing control in the hands of the elite.

3. Yes - i don't know how much we can win off of this deal
I see two stories out of this

1. Republican congress stands up to Bush, demands review.

2. Bush defeats Democrats.

Those seem like the most likely stories; for the reasons you note. Our arguments against the port deal haven't been all that solid.

7. Absolutely. We have to have serious and independent experts
up front on investigation and leadership.
