NPR: 45 day port review is so Bush* can save face...WTF??
I was under the impression that the 45 day review of the Dubai World deal was to scrutinize the plan for security reasons. This morning on NPR after a fluff piece on Tom DeLay, the news proclaimed that the 45 day review period was so our esteemed Pretzelnut can Save Face. How Nice of Congress to oblige. P.S. He has no face to save.
But * will use it for another purpose, to twist enough rethug arms in Congress to approve it, despite the fact that their constituents are screaming their objections at them.
We're supposed to believe that a company that believed it was already a done deal turns around and asks for further review? :eyes: It was the other way around. "Uh, guys? We have a little problem. Can we hold this off for 45 days and do another "security review"? There is a big shit storm here and I need time to clean it up."
7. Have you figured out what they mean by "save face?"
Is it because this thing is going to get dismantled and they're trying to do it slowly within the 45 days? Or is it because Bush said there would be no review and the Dubai Ports World gave him an out by saying they wanted one?
